Exercise...... how much are you doing?
I was wondering how much exercise everyone is doing? What type of things are you doing?
I am mainly walking still. However I am going to go to my first Zumba class this Wednesday. I have my next follow- up appt. with surgeon's office on 5/8/12 & will be seeing the exercise physiologist. She will be doing some testing & then giving me suggestions for exercise & how often type stuff.

hi i had my surgery on march 26th.im exercising everyday i lift weights 3 times a week plus sit-ups.i jog or walk every day.been doing all this after my 2nd week out of surgery.doc said it was ok since i was never in any pain.i feel so good.i now look for stairs to walk up and find any reason to run around well with 11 kids its not hard.lol
I do a fair bit. I walk/run at least 3 miles 3x a week (have my first 5k this weekend), I do the elliptical when I can't run. I started back up with kettleballs this past week (2x) and I'm going to start crossfit 2x a week next week. So minimum I work out 5 days a week but the other days I'm not doing nothing, I am just out walking with the kids in DC, going to the park etc. . . Oh and I'm also starting back horse back riding in 2 weeks (that's my present to myself for hitting the 100's which should happen next week).

Do you find doing the ellipitcal on your off days improves your run/walks?
I am following a training schedule and they only want me run/walking 3 days/week. I still haven't done any strength training yet. I really need to get going on that.
Horseback riding? I would LOVE to hear how that goes. That sounds like an amazing present for hitting onederland!

I don't know if it improves them, but it definitely allows me to get in good cardio when I otherwise wouldn't be able to. I can only run on the road on Sat. unless I want to push a stroller (I don't). So I run on a track and use the elliptical when the weather isn't conducive to having the kids play at the park while I'm at the track. I was doing 5 days a week before surgery so this isn't anything new I'm just finally getting back to my pre-surgery levels. I meet with the training person for my surgeon tomorrow and I'm hoping he'll help me with a better strength training regimen as my arms could use a ton of help.

Well, wed. didn'y work for 1st Zumba, however I did it tonight. It totally kicked my butt. I was worn out & thinking well I can stop now & next time stay longer, but it was so much fun I just kept going. I kept pace almost the entire time too. I will however be interected to see how I feel tomorrow..LOL.
If you haven't checked it out...do.

I love Zumba and regularly did it on my Kinnect before surgery. Now that I'm training for a 1/2 marathon though it just doesn't work into my schedule. I have to run on my cardio days and then I do weights and stretch on my off days. Hope to start it again when I am eating enough to exercise 2x a day.
