March 2012 Sleevers
Okay ... those of us that have been sleeved
As for me, I'm fairly pain free, but two of my incisions are still a wee bit tender. I even slept on my stomach (partially) for part of the night last night.
Eating is still a huge issue for me. I am feeling more and more hungry, but only when I should be hungry (meal and snack time). I am eating pudding, jello, popsicles, pureed soups, pureed chicken with sauce, and the like. I'm also able to take in a lot more liquid than just 5 days ago. My protein drinks are holding me back a bit as I am having a hard time getting them down even with the new ones that are a bit tolerable.
I stepped on the elliptical today for 5 minutes, but didn't use the arms as I could feel some pulling on my stitches. I plan on getting on it at least 2-3x tomorrow for the same amount of time. I took it EASY, but still elevated my heart rate.
I'm subbing this week for at least one day and hope that I have the energy to be on my feet teaching for most of the day.
How is it going for you? What are you eating? How are you feeling?

Well,, maybe about the same. ... My diet is still full liquids until tomorrow. I felt not so good for the first 10 days or so.. started to feel better, then today was extremely tired and nauseous. I don't know. Just feel weak. I thought i could go back to work this Monday, but extended my leave. I'm a nurse, but do not do direct patient care. It feels like a full time job trying to get liquids and protein in.
I am basically eating prot. drinks, yogurt, cream soup, thin oatmeal... sugar free pudding and fudgesicles... but I'm trying not to get "hooked" on the sweet stuff again, now that i sort of have been "detoxed"
And my poke holes are well healed... but if definitely still "feel" my stomach... or something internally. Its just a weird feeling. I find myself holding my tummy sometimes when I walk..I don't know how else to explain it!
That's about it with me... just hoping I'm "normal".
Very best to everyone else on this road to wellness!

Tell me about the full time job of getting the protein and liquids in. Yesterday was my first day of almost hitting 60g of protein and I felt not so great around bedtime. I think I need to set an alarm so I do not forget/get behind.
I crave more of the savory things than sweet. I'm not saying that I don't like chocolate anymore, just that I find myself wanting soup, etc. when it is "meal time".
I'm glad you're healing well. I'm having issues with my bellybutton incision. It isn't infected, but it isn't healing as well as the others.

Hi marymack_yeoldlady,
Are you sure you want a soup that will make you gassy? I was told to avoid stuff like that for a while.
If you are sure, don't forget papaya enzymes!
I get to start creamy soups tomorrow. protein and water aren't yet going as well as they should, though.
7th day post op, and 2 of my incisions are a bit painful on movement, but I did overdo it too early by going up and down steps to the beach while I was in Mexico on day 4. In general I'm sore and tired. I'm glad I've got another 4 days of vacation before work, though 5 weeks before I can exercise regularly again seems a bit much.

I am 1 week & 1 day & am struggling getting in everything. not hungry ever. but crave weird things I didn't even eat before surgery. I'm tired of pudding & cream soup is a turn off now. basically all I eat are protein whey shots & liquidy cream of wheat. My "deep" stitch, where surgeon actually took out removed section of stomach still pulls pretty good & can be very uncomfortable but otherwise I feel good. The last 3 days come about 8-9p at night I cry & not totally sure why. I feel very sad & like everything is some big chore. Maybe it's just horomones, but it sucks. I'm down 7lbs & very pleased with that. I've taken 2 trips out of the house with my boyfriend to stores which has been fun. I have gone as far as .75 miles on tredmill at a 2.5. but that varies each day. Today was only .25 at a 2.0 & I was exhausted. I'm dying for the time to pass & to get a bit more energy & be able to vary my diet some.

I'm 2 weeks post op and feeling good. I too am having trouble with the protein and vitamin intake. I did try to stick to a time schedule for the vitamins that seems to be working. The protein ? Well... Hmmmm working on it. I'm sick of the shakes in the blender. So I'm trying to just use the shaker. It doesn't taste so thick.
Before the surgery, I was a workout nut. Up at 4am to hit the gym before work. Now I'm just resting, resting, resting. I plan to get back to the grind but I'm healing and don't want to set myself back.
Food.. Oh food! I'm so scared of it! I know that I have learned to listen to myself, but I'm still a work in progress. I just keep in mind that I can eat about a cup of food. That normally helps.
I go back to work tomorrow but only 5 hrs a day. I'm hope that I can keep up with my protein and vItamins and keep away from the junk that I know that will be there! Wish me luck!

Good luck at work today!
I am just over a month out and I STILL have problems getting in all my protein. I am working on it though and still seeing results.
As for working out, etc., I am STILL very tired and go to bed much earlier than I did in the past. I notice that I feel better when I work out, even if I am still tired :)
I can eat about 1/3-1/2 at meals, so if you are getting in 1/2 cup already, that is quite a bit. I have issues STILL with eating too fast :( and my body reminds me (not so nicely) that I need to slow it down.
