Introuctions
I'll start the thread :
My name is Debbie, I'm 43 - have lived in Dubai for 14 months and am British. I'm currently taking a career break and am a HR Director when I'm working.
I had VSG and Gall Bladder Removal on 9th March 2010 at the American Hospital with Dr Paul Sayad. My surgery was difficult as my stomach was stuck to my spleen - so I had an unexpected 6 hour surgery. My recovery was great and quick. I had insurance for my gall bladder removal, and self paid for the rest.
I'm now 2 months out, have lost 42 lbs since surgery and 52 lbs in total (I lost 10 lbs in the few weeks before surgery because of issues with my gall bladder).
I'm enjoying working my sleeve, working out in the gym and doing exercise - have just played my first ever game of squash and also started roller blading !
I live in Dubai - in the Marina.
I record my food intake on myfitnesspal.com and have just broken a 2 week stall by upping my calories (never thought I would say that) and increasing my protein !
I'm looking for a nutritionist in Dubai who understands weight loss surgery and can give me some tips (so please let me know if you recommend anyone).
Patience is a virtue !
Regards
Debbie

Hi!
I'm Patty and live in Abu Dhabi, had vsg 4 July last year, and so far everything is great. I haven't lost all my weight, but I have not follow any diet and just recently started going to the gym...
Oh! I'm 42 yrs old, starting weigh was 104 kg and now (last weight in was last month) I weight 79kg..
My surgeon was Dr. Safwan at Al Noor Hospital in AD, but I not longer see him, actually I'm thinking that I need to look for someone new to follow me up.
I still need to learn to eat healthy, and also I think my stomach is elastic cuz I really can eat everything! I do eat normally, but it depends of the day, sometimes i can swallow everything and some days i get full with no food at all...
My hair is falling like crazy and I'm thinking to do some mesotherapy cuz is starting to really worry me.
Well that's all folks! hope to read more from all of you.
Take care
Patty

Hi - Welcome Patti - I am so glad that you have joined the Group.
One of the things I find about having surgery in the UAE is that you do not get the follow-ups which people in the States tend to have.
I know that I am struggling to find a nutritionist who understands this surgery - one told me to soak bread in milk so that I could eat it - when in fact I know I should be focussing on protein, then veggies and only if there is room take in some carbs !
Hopefully this group can help bridge that gap.
I'm still in the 'golden 12-18 months' phase so am planning on working this sleeve as much as possible to get as close as I can to my idea weight - will use this site as a great tool to help me to do this.
I'm still getting lots of restriction, can only eat small amounts so am benefiting greatly at the moment.
Well done on your weight loss - that's great.
Regards
Debbie
