I am glad to see you are healing so quick. Did they review what you were allowed to eat and not to eat before you left the hospital? They told me before hand but I am hoping they review it with me lol

Hey Hey Surgery Sisters.  I am new to this site and to this group.  I am so glad to be here and happy I found you.

My name is Susan, I am 40 years old.  I am married to my first love and college sweetheart (16 years) and we have two wonderful girls (9 and 7).  I live in Austin Texas where I work in the semiconductor industry as a circuit designer.

I just scheduled my surgery date for September 4th.!!!!! Close enough to be excited but far away not to be worried yet.

I started my WLS journey about a year ago.  I have always been a 'big" girl, but as a "soul sister" it was never a huge issue.  I was blessed with reverse body image issues - I think i look better than I do.  In my head I was always 6 feet tall and fabulous.  But in reality I a obese with chronic hypertention since I was young.  I am currently on 7 different blood pressure medications and my BP normally runs 140/100  on a good day.  Like lots of us, I have tried several diets that never kept my weight down for very long.  I think the lowest adult weight was 210.  I do love to work out, actually completed a sprint triathalon in 2011.  I have a really stressful job ( 60 hours+) and use food to manage my stress.  This year I started working with a therapist to help minimize my stress eating.  I have come a long way and I am ready for WLS/VSG.

Don't be nervous!  I was more relaxed than I thought I would be and I'm convinced that helped me with such a speedy recovery in the hospital.  You will do GREAT!

I'm 3 days post op and starting to feel the hunger pains.  I can't have full fluids until Monday and I want them now LOL.  ANYTHING but broth and jello.  Yogurt sounds so good.  I'm on full fluids for 3 days and then I go to pureed food.  Not sure I want to puree any meat (can't imagine that tastes good) but I look forward to more of a variety.   I'm making sure I walk and sip ALL the time.  That's probably the most important part - walk walk walk and sip sip sip water.  They emphasize walking so much and I see why - it also helps healing go a lot faster.  Even helps with pain, believe it or not!

Keep us updated post op!  Love to hear how things are going  :-)

Did you call the bariatric nurse to find out what you can do?  They may have alternatives to help you.  Let me know what they say!

I'm on the third day of the two week liquid diet and it is pretty tough. Not to mention that the day before I started I got horribly ill and went to Dr. and found out I have a upper respiratory infection and it's really affecting the things I eat on this diet. I can barely stand the taste of the protein shakes or meal replacement drinks. Starting to get a little nervous with my protein intake because I haven't hit the mark quite yet and I don't want to make myself sicker. Well just wanted to vent for a moment hope everything is going good with all y'all.
GOOD LUCK AND BEST WISHES

My liquid diet seems strange because its not all liquid. I am suppose to have 3 protein shakes a day and dinner is 5 oz of grilled meat. I was like "what?", I thought it was only going to be liquid things. They havent told me anything I have to do the day before or the day of. I am calling them in a bit to figure that out.

Yes, please let us know how it goes Tuesday. I know you will do great. WE are all so strong on this site, we have put up with a lot of things in life so this is something we can all do. :)
