Oh my goodness - I'm so sorry!!  Will keep her in my thoughts and prayers.

Liquid diet is awful.  I had some pickles today - BAD ME!  But I'm guessing it's not a matter of life and death.  I'm SO HUNGRY.  It has not gotten better for me - I am nauseous all the time and have horrible headaches.  5 more days until surgery...

That sounds no yea (something my sisters and I say when things are tough) Does your Doc allow snacks in between meals if meals are not enough?  I feel bad but don't want to give advice like (oh it'll be better soon) because I haven't been through it yet, but I do feel that looking towards the surgery and all things you'll be able to do when it's over you'll look back and think  that time kind of sucked but it was worth it.

Do you know to add friends w/o request? I was going to add you as a friend so I can do personal messaging but don't know how.

Hello everyone! I am new this site all together but I am excited to be here. I live in Texas and I am a teacher. I set my date for Aug. 7 and I will be starting my liquid diet this upcoming Monday. I am a last minute worrier so it wasn't until a few days ago that I started panicking. I was started having a panic attack thinking is this what I need to do, am I going to regret this, etc. I am nervous but I know I need this surgery. I am having the sleeve and I have friends who have had all the surgeries and I know this one is the best for me. I have a great doctor so I know it will be good. I hope I survive the liquid diet and the post diet. Any advise is excepted. :)

Welcome, Laura!  Everything you are feeling is PERFECTLY NORMAL.  A friend of mine who had it over 2 years ago told me the same thing.  I am on day 9 of my liquid diet and I personally think it is HARD but do your best.  I will admit, each day of the liquid diet, I cheated once wtih a bite or two of chicken or something protein related, but I chose protein and only had very little.  I'm not encouraging you to cheat, I'm just letting you know it's normal to find it very difficult.  Mine seemed more strict than most:  5-6 protein shakes a day and only clear liquids (jello, broth, coffee, tea), so I had a really hard time.  Just don't go out and eat a bunch of crap LOL.

My surgery is on Tuesday and I'm having gastric bypass.  I can hardly wait for Tuesday.  Tomorrow, I can only have clear fluids and at 1:00 pm I have to drink that nasty Magnesium Citrate crap that cleans you out!  Not looking forward to that at all, but it's worth it!  I will keep in touch with everyone in the mean time and let you know how Tuesday goes!

My liquid diet seems strange because its not all liquid. I am suppose to have 3 protein shakes a day and dinner is 5 oz of grilled meat. I was like "what?", I thought it was only going to be liquid things. They havent told me anything I have to do the day before or the day of. I am calling them in a bit to figure that out.

Yes, please let us know how it goes Tuesday. I know you will do great. WE are all so strong on this site, we have put up with a lot of things in life so this is something we can all do. :)

Don't be nervous!  I was more relaxed than I thought I would be and I'm convinced that helped me with such a speedy recovery in the hospital.  You will do GREAT!

I'm 3 days post op and starting to feel the hunger pains.  I can't have full fluids until Monday and I want them now LOL.  ANYTHING but broth and jello.  Yogurt sounds so good.  I'm on full fluids for 3 days and then I go to pureed food.  Not sure I want to puree any meat (can't imagine that tastes good) but I look forward to more of a variety.   I'm making sure I walk and sip ALL the time.  That's probably the most important part - walk walk walk and sip sip sip water.  They emphasize walking so much and I see why - it also helps healing go a lot faster.  Even helps with pain, believe it or not!

Keep us updated post op!  Love to hear how things are going  :-)

I am glad to see you are healing so quick. Did they review what you were allowed to eat and not to eat before you left the hospital? They told me before hand but I am hoping they review it with me lol
