I recently ended a four year dead end relationship.  I've tried to start dating again but It's going very slow.  My surgeon suggested I find myself a rich boyfriend.  I'm like...really?!  Where are they?  Hell, I'm having a hard enough time finding an average joe.

I think men and women have treated each other so poorly in the past, it makes it hard to get close to anyone period.  I also have a ton of loose skin on my abdomen and it looks and feels a mess.  No matter how many crunches I do nothing helps.  Intimacy is akward for me because I don't want to undress.

Hey Guys,

Have any of you started dating again after you had your sugery?  What are your experiences? Do you try to date others who have maybe had the WLS because you feel that they would better understand what you're going through?

I find it hard to get close to someone because I still have yet to get my plastic surgery to remove all the excess skin I have.  I am a faithful fan of the bodyshapers!  Wouldn't go a day without them!
I just feel like if someone hugs me, they might feel my skin...and that scares me to death.
I don't know...maybe that is just me being weird or something.

Stay blessed and always encouraged.

Hello,

I've been on BBW forever but I've honestly never met anyone that I had more than one date with.

I was on yahoo for a few years and met someone there that I dated for several years.

I put myself on POF last year and dated a couple of guys but haven't been active since my surgery.  I feel like right now my priority is getting this weight off.  I'd like to be further along on my journey before meeting someone.

That said, I'm very interested in how everyone is doing because I imagine that I'll be more active on POF within the next month or two.

The beauty of a woman is not seen through what she wears. It is seen through how she carries herself and the way she doesn’t allow herself to settle. Don’t ever let anyone take for granted the beauty that is within you. Stand firm and know that you’re a wonderful person. Always remember your value and respect yourself. I’m so blessed to have you in my life.  Sometimes we all need to be reminded how special we really are!

Greetings,

No sure how the group can grow...is there a way to somehow advertise it on this site?

I'm also getting back into dating as well and have joined some sites as well.  I'm not impressed with what I've seen and been through as well.  Most of the guys on the site are strictly there for sex.   You have to really weed through the profiles, and make sure when you talk to them, that they aren't looking for just sex.

I've tried Match.com with some success, I'm also on Christianlifestyle.com and BigChurch.com as well. I'm Looking for a Christian man :O)  I went to OKCupid, so we'll see how that goes.  Thanks for that site by the way.

Singlesnet was terrible.  Not luck on that one...and the guy that email you back don't really read your profile...so you know what they are after.

I agree with your comment regarding other sites not understand WLS, and are scared of it, so this site is the perfect place for us to meet us, because we all know what we've been through, and have an understanding heart.

Hopefully, more single people will stop by and leave comments/suggestions.

I joined BBWdatefinders.com.  I know a lot of people here are at goal and are not still BBW's. I still am.  I haven't found anybody anywhere close to me that really interests me, but I think I will check out the two that you mentioned that were free.

I just sent you all out a message in hopes that you all will reply with your answers here.  I know that I am posting here what I sent to you all in your message, but I am doing that is hopes that if we get new members they will see what and why we posted what we did.

Since I have decided to go out into the dating sector, I am not having very much luck.  I have joined a few dating sites and although I have talked to a few guys, I am not impressed over all.

There are two sites that are ok, which are plenty of fish and okcupid.  The reason I like these two sites better then the next two I am going to mention is because you can communicate with someone with out "upgrading" and spending money.

Which will bring me to the other two, which you have to pay to communicate with someone.  The sites are Matchmaker and singlesnet.

I hope that some of  you will respond as I am going to start a thread on the discussion board, in hopes for us all to get some ideas.  I created this group in hopes of having to stay away from these types of sites, because so many of the opposite sex are "scared" or uninformed about WLS.  At least here we all have something in common.

I look forward to reading everyone's responses and good luck on your search.

HI Everyone! I'm Linda, 42 next Friday.. divorced, no kids, just me and my shih-tzu, Gigi. Live in NJ and work in NYC. I dated a guy I met at an OH convention in NJ about 5 years ago. We had a great 4 month relationship that was different than any I have ever had.
We shared commonalities that only people who had WLS can share. We shared dreams, food, understanding, excitement of doing things for the first time because we could now. It did not work out long term, but I would not mind dating someone who had WLS.
More about me.. I love to travel, spend time with family and friends and am thrilled there is a singles group on OH!
Cheers,
Linda
