Hi, everyone! My name is Jeri and I live in Columbia, MD. I joined this group in November and then promptly forgot about it. I went back to Weigh****chers and I've managed to yo-yo back and forth with about 16 lbs. net loss right now (in 1-1/2 years.)

SO - I finally talked to my Internist about SERIOUSLY considering weight loss surgery. Here I go on the real quest to have this done. I scheduled an appointment to attend Dr. Singh's seminar on April 8th and I'm gathering information right now.

I look forward to "meeting" you folks and gaining some support and encouragement for this big decision.

Blessings and peace,
Jeri

Thanks for the welcome, Kitty!
My husband and I attended Dr. Singh's seminar on Wednesday night and I was very psyched about the possibilities.
I'm going to get all of my paperwork in and start attending the support groups BUT....and this is a BIG BUT.....

I called the insurance company yesterday morning and found out that plan we have through my husband's employer excludes any sort of obesity surgery. The people at United Health Care said that I could contact the employer's human resources department and find out if ther are any plans to put it into any of the new offerings during open enrollment in the fall.

If not - then we're going to have to pay out of our own pocket. With the economy being the way it is right now - that's not a possibility, so I"m pretty bummed out! My husband has been wonderful about it - he said - go ahead and get everything ready as though you're moving forward with it and then when (if) it becomes available you'll be ready to go right away.

We had the coverage about 1-1/2 years ago when I first thought of this and then chickened out - but it's okay! There's always a reason for the things that happen and the way they happen. Hopefully I can get myself motivated to get back to Weigh****chers and exercise in the meantime!

Sorry to ramble on and on - but  I'm on the rollercoaster at the moment as I'm sure you can imagine.

Blessings and thanks!

Jeri

Welcome Jeri... I also live in Columbia.  I haven't been online for quite sometime due to personal issues.  But I'm back and can't wait to see how thing are going... offer support and receive it as well.

We who either have just begun the journey or have been on it for some time are truly the ones who understand and can lend the kind of support that only we can give.  I hope that made sense.  LOL!
