Topic: Jeff had his Upper GI, today
Well, for those who know Jeff, he had his Upper GI done today by Dr. Oh, and so far it looked good. The doctor said it was fairly normal, took some tissue, noted a small hernia, but nothing too alarming. Soon, he may know a surgical date, and as of this posting, he is looking to have a VSG.

Topic: Nioxin...
For those of you with hair loss or just thining, I have used Nioxin in the past, and have a few friends who swear by it. Anyhow, I mentioned to the Group that Jeff can purchase at Beauty Supply Stores, and when I was with him a couple weeks ago, they had a sale. I cannot say if the sale is ongoing, but even if it isn't, it is still less than Salon prices.
Here is the Nioxin Site - the site is very user friendly...

Hope this is helpful!

Topic: Anyone know a Therapist Accepting Medicare?
I have hit a roadblock, my Bariatric Team is asking that I get a therapist before getting my approval. The problem: I am on Medicare & CANNOT find any therapists who will accept NEW patients with only Medicare.
I have called OVER THIRTY groups, and have come up with the same answers, so if someone is familliar with the Area (Seattle, WA - South Puget Sound) and can point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated.
Only other alternative is dropping out of the UW Program, and getting a Medicare HMO Program (UW won't take the HMO) and going to a different program, altogether. Anyone familiar with Evercare?
Thanks! Brenda : )~

Topic: 4/15 meeting notes
In attendance: Della, Brenda, Donna, Karrie, Lynn and Kelsey.
Small meeting last night. Perhaps Maple Valley was too far out there?
Met two wonderful new ladies. Lynn and her daughter Kelsey. Lynn had lab-band 5 years ago. Kelsey is considering surgery but may be too thin for insurance coverage.
We played another ice-breaker. This one I asked them each to draw a pig. There is a personality quiz based on what their pig looked like. It is just for fun. contact me for more info on this if interested.
We also shared our stories of why we were overweight. I won't share others stories as they should remain private. I did tell my story which I will re-tell here for sake of example.
I was always "fluffy". I wore about a size 9-11 pant through high school. But. I was active. I was a gymnast and on swim team in high school.
But, when I was 18 I was date raped by a friend. I wanted to not be attractive to men anymore so I gained about 100lbs in less than a year. After this, I dated a man who preferred women with 'meat on their bones' so I gained even more. That boyfriend also introduced me to the wonderful world of dining out. I had never really eaten in restaurants a lot before then. We ate out a few times a week. By the time I broke up with that boyfriend I was 280lbs and pretty much too far gone to succeed in any efforts.
So that is my story. Feel free to add yours here if you are comfortable. Keep in mind this page can be seen by anyone, not as secure as our facebook page. Another reason I encourage all members to join that site if possible.
