Hello Everyone..
I was invited by Jan, who I met on the Over 50 BMI forum. I was also lucky enough to meet her in person at the OH LA event. I live in Toledo, Ohio. A medium sized city with not much going for it right now with the auto industry slowing down.
My WLS story in a nut shell. I had RNY on April 16, 2008 after what seemed like forever. I had originally started the process in early 2007. I spoke with my insurance company at the time, and they assured me that they do approve WLS. I went thru the 6 month supervised dieting, only to be denied from my insurance; who then said they do not cover WLS. I was devistated.. I should have read the policy myself, but whatever. I was determined to have the WLS done. It took me a few months to get back on track, I was really depressed about the whole thing. I ended up getting a second job with better health insurance that covered WLS.
A little about me.... I have been an RN for the last 15 years. I usually love my job, some days are of coarse worse than others. I have been married to a wonderful man (Alex) for 10 years now. We have no children yet, and I am still undecided if I want to try again after I have lost most of my weight. (we had tried for probably 5 years prior to me having WLS). I have a wonderful sister, niece & nephew who I spend lots of time with. I absolutly love to travel, and just with I had more money and time to do it. Our favorite place is Alaska, and we would like to make it back there during the winter at some point.

My favorite pastime -Going to concerts all over the country, I am a Deadhead. I have seen over 200 concerts, there are only 6 states I have not been to/through. I had to stop traveling with my last weight gain of 180lbs (in a year and 1/2) because I could not walk. It sucked. Before that even as a big girl (around 300 lbs for most of my adult life...I am 5 foot 7 and 1/2) I traveled often and went backpacking and camping every summer with my sister. 487 is just too big to function though. I was truly miserable and wanted to die for a while. Thank god for RNY. I had to lose 81 lbs just to qualify for it at Buffalo General Hospital with Dr Forbes. they are tough! They have never lost a patient though so I trusted them.
My least favorite pastime -Putting away laundry (but I don't mind doing it or folding it)
