Topic: Just wanted to say HELLO!

Hi there!  I am not new to the OH website but new to this group.  I had the DS with Dr. O'Malley in march 2011.  Due to scheduling problems I have never been to one of the support groups in Highland.  I also was hoping to connect with other local DS'ers as the diet is a bit different than other surgeries.

It is always nice to connect with anyone who had WLS because we tend to share so mu*****ommon with respect to where we came from!  I hope discussions for this group pickup- I would love to hear from others!!

Thanks!

hi, my name is kerry and I'm also planning on having rny surgery with dr o'malley at highland. I have to have 5 more months of consistent weight loss for the insurance co. to approve my surgery. its really challenging sticking to the post surgery food plan because I live with an active food addict....but I'm doing it. I have tried everything to lose the weight and am dedicated to my health. glad to meet you and I hope I can meet some of you...there is strength in numbers!

Topic: Group Name Change, any suggestions?

I would like to change the name of the group. something that isn't inclusive to Gastric Bypass. I have chosen to have the Duodenal Switch and don't want to sound exclusive to potential new member who have the band, VSG, or DS. Any suggestions. Oh and I would really like to keep Rochester in the title. Thanks, Desi

Hi everyone. I must start by apologizing to you all. I got off track. I never had the gastric bypass. I failed miserably during the pre op dietitian supervised poetion of the process and took some time off. Now, I am back. And doing GREAT. I have one more visit with the dietitian and hopefully at that point I will be cleared to meet with Dr. O'malley. YAY, I'm so close and working so hard. I am esitmating a late June surgery. I have also done alot of research and am planning to have the DS or duodenal switch. I am both the owner and the administrator. When I rejoined OH I could not remember my log in info and so created another account. I am hoping to figure out how to switch my new profile "PerpetualFatty" to the group owner. I am really looking forward to meeting all of you and being a source of support and knowledge to each other through this journey. Thanks and feel free to message me anytime. Desi

Today I am me, as I will be tomorrow, just an improved version.

Dr. O'Malley seems like a really nice guy and a great  doctor.  I always get confused with the different types of WLS, is R-N-Y the standard Gastric Bypass Surgery?  How many kinds of Gastric Bypass are there?!

Topic: Welcome
Hi everyone. My name is Desiree. I am planning to have R-N-Y gastric bypass with Dr. O'Malley at Highland Hospital. I created this group in the hopes of becoming a great source of support for locals as well as those who travel many hundreds of miles to have weight loss surgery in Rochester. I look forward to making lots of friends here, and no topic is off limits. The only rule is "Be Nice!"
