RNY Surgery July 2010
Just wanting to see how everyone is doing - 4 weeks post-op today
Okay all you July surgery babies, how are you doing? I am starting to eat more stuff that is different and I can tell that I can eat a little more; however, I still cannot get in all the 64 oz of fluid and 60 grams of protein but I am trying!
What all are you guys trying and how are you doing with and how about your weight loss?
In the last 2 weeks I think I may have gone down 1-2 pounds.

Hi! One thing I didn't mention on my other post to you. I am getting my 60 grams of protein in by drinking 3 scoops of the protein (mixed with water). It takes me from about 8 am until about 1pm to drink it all (its about 12-14 oz). I sip water too. That is the only way I have found to get enough protein in.
I rarely get all of my fluid but I keep trying!

I have a really hard time getting the 64 oz of fluid in. I used to drink 10 or 11 cups of water a day. It is a lot harder now! I am getting the 60 grams of protein in every day. I start with a protein shake that I make with milk(8), 1 scoop of vanilla unjury(20), 1/4 cup powdered milk(6), and 1 T. greek yogurt (2) that only leaves me with 24 to get in during the day. I threw in 7 raspberries today and it was really good. I eat a lot of chopped chicken, I've mixed it with greek yogurt and mayo; bbq sauce and bleu cheese; ranch dressing and greek yogurt. I eat a lot of cottage cheese, too. I'm getting a little tired of that. I'm losing very slowly over the last week and a half. I will be 4weeks post-op on Monday. I've lost 17 pounds since surgery.
Howdy - I am 4 weeks post op as of yesterday and have now officially lost 30 pounds! I am really pleased. Y'all are talking about 60 grams of protein a day and my dietician now has me with a 90 grams per day goal!!!!! You're right, reaching 60 is hard enough and I haven't even come close to 90 in the last week. And, I also agree, getting 64 oz of liquids hasn't been easy now since I've started solid/pureed foods. That was easier in the first 3 weeks when all I had to do was drink protein drinks. Wish I had some magical advice - but it looks like we are all in the same place if that's any consolation :)
