I am having a HUGE issue with food right now and was wondering if any of you have had this experience.

I am in the pureed stage and am running out of things to eat because once I eat something I cannot stomach it again. For example: last week I was given the okay to have egg salad and my mouth watered as I made it and enjoyed as I ate it...ONCE. Now the thought of egg salad makes me nauseous. Same scenario with refried beans, black beans, chicken salad, and even roast beef hash. I eat them once and can't stomach the thought of trying them again. AARGH...don't know what to do and i desperately need to stick to higher protein foods because I am also struggling with getting protein drinks down.

I am pretty much in the same boat as you are. I had my surgery 7/16. I am technically still on pureed but also have been having soft foods. I can only eat less than a 1/4 cup of anything. In fact this morning I only ate half a 1/4 cup. Some days are better than others. Yesterday I wasnt able to tolerate anything at all hardly and had a bad issue with some KFC potatoes, not sure if it was the gravy or what. I think this has been the hardest 3 weeks of my life!

I really miss food. More than I ever thought I would. I cant do protein shakes, they make me gag ugh! I sure hope this gets better with time.. everyone keeps saying "Oh your just a newbie it will get better".

Good luck on some new foods!

I love my protein drinks - I use Z Pro 25 - 25 grams of protein and come in vanilla and chocolate.  I mix either flavor with have decaf coffee and half water and add in 1/8 tsp vanilla extract to either flavor.  Use a shaker and add ice and they are wonderful.  Also ProTi 15 drink mix has 15 grams of protein and I really like the PeachMango and Wildberry flavors.

Also, try taking a non-stick skillet sprayed with Pam and crack 1 or 2 eggs into it.  Basically "fry" them over easy and then put in a small bowl.  Cut them up and add a little salt.  Tastes like a soft boiled egg only much easier to make!

Hope this helps a little!  Good luck!
