Topic: RE: Hey! New to the group
There are lots of events in the DFW area that you might be interested in doing, although it seems that running events are starting to slow down as we get into the Fall and Winter months.  The "RunOn" stores have a good website (www.runontexas.com) that can give you a lot of information about running events in the area.  The best (and only) advice I can give is to START moving - gradually you'll find yourself moving more!

I am 18 1/2 months post-VSG, and started jogging/walking semi-seriously back in the Summer, just before I moved to DFW from Louisiana.  I completed a half-marathon in Detroit last month, and plan on doing another Half at White Rock in three weeks.  I am thinking about a full marathon in the Spring as well.  As far as cycling, I haven't done much research on it, but there seems to be PLENTY of folks out there pedaling away  I have been thinking about taking up some kind of rowing, but I think that might have to wait until Spring.

Again, just START!  You'll see improvement over time.  Good luck to you!

Topic: Hey! New to the group
I'm in the DFW area, am 3 weeks post op and just getting back into exercise. Saw this group listed and was wondering if it was still active or not. Looks like I'm a bit older than most of you but my goal is to run some of the local events. Winning isn't the goal...just being able to DO it would be amazing.

Would like to know how some of you started running, cycling and where you found most of your best info from.

Thanks,

Lisa

Hello Everyone,

I am looking for advice from old pros!  I am wondering what you guys eat to keep up your energy.  I have been increasing my exercise dramatically the past couple months and am noticing the low energy and muscle fatigue.  I know everyone is different but some suggestions would be great.  I am down 100 pounds since Dec 17th, 2009.  I am training for a marathon in Feb and have my first triathlon next weekend.  Also if anyone uses the gels, which one.  I noticed they have alot of sugar.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give..

Scott, I think that 2012 is a total possibility.  In fact I've been mulling that event over in my mind for quite some time.  I want to do the Goofy Challenge.  I'm sure my wife would at least do the Half Marathon.

Bill, I'd love to do it in 2011 but we just don't have the funds.  That's kind of a big ticket event and Alisica wants to make a vacation out of it...I don't blame her for that.  Have fun buddy!

Anybody doing Hotter'n Hell at the end of the month?  Hubs and I will be there.  Have a couple of 90 mile rides under my belt, hopefully I'll be good to go...

Hey everyone,

Not much activity from myself or anyone else on this booard lately... Since having plastic surgery a little over 6 weeks ago, I have not been around as much. I am stating to ramp up training and will be much  more active around these parts. Lets get some synergy going, and talk about whatever is on your guys' mind! Have an awesome Monday....
