Post_Op_PRs
Hey! New to the group
I'm in the DFW area, am 3 weeks post op and just getting back into exercise. Saw this group listed and was wondering if it was still active or not. Looks like I'm a bit older than most of you but my goal is to run some of the local events. Winning isn't the goal...just being able to DO it would be amazing.
Would like to know how some of you started running, cycling and where you found most of your best info from.
Thanks,
Lisa

There are lots of events in the DFW area that you might be interested in doing, although it seems that running events are starting to slow down as we get into the Fall and Winter months. The "RunOn" stores have a good website (www.runontexas.com) that can give you a lot of information about running events in the area. The best (and only) advice I can give is to START moving - gradually you'll find yourself moving more!
I am 18 1/2 months post-VSG, and started jogging/walking semi-seriously back in the Summer, just before I moved to DFW from Louisiana. I completed a half-marathon in Detroit last month, and plan on doing another Half at White Rock in three weeks. I am thinking about a full marathon in the Spring as well. As far as cycling, I haven't done much research on it, but there seems to be PLENTY of folks out there pedaling away I have been thinking about taking up some kind of rowing, but I think that might have to wait until Spring.
Again, just START! You'll see improvement over time. Good luck to you!
