Long run food

Yesterday I ran 16 miles for my training and by the end I did not have much juice left.  I was drinking G2 during the run and had a few Shot Blocks. But my question is: what kind of fuel do you do for your long runs?  I have to repeat the 16 miles this Sunday and I want to try to do better this week.

thanks for your help.

I use Infinit. I love my current run mix. I have figured out through trial and error that I need about 200-250 calories per hour, all liquid, no protein, when I run. So that's what my mix is. Shot blocks make me have to go to the bathroom.

I also am sure to eat something before the run, usually no sooner than an hour before, so that I'm starting out well fueled and not at a deficit.

First of all Shane... GREAT JOB on your run!!! Everyone uses something different. I really like the GU Brand ROCTANE gels, I mix those with Salt Tabs, sometimes Sports Beans, and I use CytoMax for my Electrolyte drink of choice. Try different things and see what works for you, That's what training is all about. Great job and keep getting after it. What are you training for?

Way to go Shane!!

I do G2 and Gu gels.  Shot blocks are pretty rough on me, but everyone is different.  I take a drink every couple of miles and do a gel every 4th mile.  Worked pretty well for me at the Austin marathon.
