Bored so....
I was checking email and I got a notification that the Vineman 70.3 was full and so was the wait list. They also had record numbers of entries in the 140.6. So I got to thinking about my 70.3 triathlon this year and thought I would look at the entrants in my age group.
I have several goals for this race, and thought I'd flush those goals out some more.
1. Start the race
2. Don't drown during the swim. Depending on rain this year, it might be doable. Last year the water level was so low that people could actually stand up in certain areas of the river.
3. Finish the swim before the cutoff
4. Finish the race without having to get off the bike and walk any of the mountains.
5. Finish the bike before the cutoff, because if they let me out on the run, nobody is going to get me off the course until I finish. Even if I don't get credit, nobody is going to get me off that course until I finish.
6. Finish the race without having to walk any of the run portion.
Now on to the fantasy fun part of my race exploration. I can't help it, I love numbers and figuring things out.
There are 310 men in the 40-44 age group
Of those 310 men only 58 of them are my age
Of those 58, 34 y/o men, 51 of them are from the U.S.
Of those 51, 40 of them are from my state, CA.
Of those 40, 2 of them including me are from my home town.
So assuming I don't get DQ'd I'm guaranteed to get at least second place in the 43 y/o men from Santa Rosa, California category
And I haven't been able to confirm it yet, but I might just get 1st in the 43 y/o men from Santa Rosa, California, who have had bariatric surgery category. Woo hoo I wonder if that will give me a Clearwater qualifier slot?
