Well I need to get my act together and really get fitness into my life.
I'm 8 months post op and I've not intergrated exercise as a tool yet.
So I'm looking for encouragement.

Thanks for starting this group

1 olympic distance race
1 70.3 distance race.
a couple sprint triathlons
1 1/2 marathon
maybe a couple century rides if I can fit them inbetween the other races.
My year long goal is to average 3 miles per day running.  I'm already in the hole because of my surgery, I have another week + of not running per the doctor, so I'm going to need to play catch up already.

I'm small time...so my plan is to do at least one 5K per month, maybe doubling up on some months to avoid the August - September Texas heat.  I'm stuck on which to do for January; the Resolution Run in Addison or the Too Cold to Hold at White Rock.  I'm seriously considering doing both but they are back to back on the weekend and don't know if I can spare the time.  My husband runs every day and I just don't have the 60 - 90 minutes each day like he does with other obligations right now, although I can manage 30 - 45 minutes to maintain good health.

Any one else doing either of these in the Dallas area?

I weighed 313 pounds on December 1, 2008 the day of my RNY surgery and have lost 81%
of my excess body weight to-date.                                        Current as of November 1, 2009
OH Mini-Challenge Goal for New Year's Day is 170 pounds. 11 pounds to go!

We live in Fort Worth, and I probably will not do those races, but I am a fan of White Rock, and just ran The White Rock Marathon last month! Welcome, and congrats on your journey!!!

Well, I'm starting the new year off right by joining my weight loss support group for a walk today at noon.  You can walk/run as far as you'd like so I'm shooting for ten miles.  It's 14 degrees outside right now so I don't know how far I'll go but at least I'll be there doing something.  I can always go to the gym later on in the day.

As for 2010.  I think that I'll commit to running 1000 miles this year.  Dan and Cassie really impressed and inspired me with that accomplishment.  I just hope that my right knee holds up.

In May I'm going to run the Indy 500 Mini Marathon.  In October I'm going to do the Hilly Hundred bike ride.

I'd like to do at least two Half Ironman Triathlons.  I'd also like to run at least one full marathon sometime this year.

I must become a better and stronger swimmer.

My goals for this year are pretty similar to last year's:

Grizzly Tri in April (sprint, 1000 yd swim under 22 minutes)
RATPOD 130-mile bike ride in late June (Ride Around The Pioneers in One Day)
Missoula Half Marathon in July (2 hours or less)
Danskin Women's Tri in August (sprint half mile open water swim under 20 minutes)
Bitterroot Classic Tri in August (sprint 750 yd swim under 15 minutes)
Possibly Garden City Tri (oly), depends on
Begin training for Rock and Roll Arizona Full Marathon in September

I would like to have PR's in each of these main races.  It is now time to begin getting in the water at least 2 days/week so I can improve my swim time.  That's really the area I need to concentrate on the most, where I can actually make the biggest improvements.

I want to do a 5K this year. I'm thinking of training for the Revlon Run/Walk.

Meanwhile, I'm starting to train for an 8 hour Hike here in Pasadena, Ca.
I've been wanting to do this one for some time and think I can start training for it now that I'm in better shape!
