I'm still so far at the beginning of the process that I've only been to the orientation. I have nothing really to add, other then some slight worry that I may have been forgotten about by the hospital. :)

Hello :) I just joined the group today and I am super pumped to find people going through the same thing. I have my surgery booked with Dr. Yelle for June 25, 2012 and I am so excited/nervous/happy/scared all in one!! If anyone have any words of encouragement or if anyone have questions for me about the process I have gone through, Let me know :)

Hi Brenda,
Glad to hear that you like Dr. Yelle, when I met him I thought he was great and seemed down to earth. My journey up to now has been long (it started about 1.5 years ago) so I'm glad that the day is near. I start my Optifast on Monday and I have a feeling that those 3 weeks will be the hardest out of the whole thing. How did you cope and do you have any pointers of what I should do to prepare for surgery? Thanks a lot Brenda :)

it took almost 2 years from start to finish
Having support has helped alot.thinking positive..put away the scale people use it too much then get all upset because its not moving fast enough.remember its not a race if you are following the rules you will do fine
you wont need lots for the hospital but one thing is take lip balm its very dry in there. and have a small bag to put it in you dont want it falling on the floor.i use the hospital gowns the whole time i was in there ( one night).i had a shower the next day so you can bring the things you need for a shower or use what they have.bring comfy slippers for the walking you will be doing, have some comfy clothes to go home in.bring a pillow to put on your tummy for the ride home when you get the rough roads

Thank you so much Brenda for the great advise. I will write a list of everything I should bring with me to the hospital and those items will for sure be on there. One more question... do you know of any support groups in Ottawa where people get together "physically" not just online to discuss WLS topics, advise, problems, etc.??
