Of course, I strained the mushrooms and celery out but it still tasted really good!

I think everyone is different, everyone is going to chug along at their own pace. I have been determined to get in my water from the night after surgery because I had heard of so many people getting dehydrated from not enough fluid intake and for me that's not an option. I hate hospitals and I will not end up back there if I have anything to say about it!

Here's the Cream of Mushroom soup recipe I made, I found it online:

CREAM OF MUSHROOM SOUP
Souplantation/Sweet Tomatoes Copycat Recipe

5 cups sliced mushrooms, 1/4 inch thick (about 1 pound)
1 cup celery, 1/2 inch thick (about 1 1/2 large ribs)
1/2 stick salted butter, plus 2 1/2 tablespoons, divided
1/4 teaspoon white pepper
4 1/2 tablespoons all purpose flour
3 1/4 cup swater
1 tablespoon beef base
1 tablespoon chicken base
2 cups whole milk
1 cup half and half
salt and pepper, to taste

In a large saucepan, combine mushrooms, celery, 1 stick butter and pepper. Saute over medium heat for 15 minutes or until vegetables have cooked down and released their juices. Remove from heat and set aside. Do not discard liquid.

While mushrooms and celery are cooking, in a large saucepan, melt remaining 5 tablespoons butter over medium heat and stir in flour. Cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Add water in 1/2 cup increments, stirring between each addition to be sure no lumps form. Add beef base and chicken base and bring mixture to a slow boil. Reduce heat and simmer 15 minutes. Soup will thicken. Stir in milk, half and half and reserved mushrooms and celery, with their cooking liquid. Season to taste with salt and pepper.

These sound really yummy! I've been using the chocolate Body Fortress and preop I was adding a couple of frozen strawberries, a couple of ice cubes and a little bit of cocoa powder and it was very milkshake like and I felt like I was cheating! Of course I had to dissolve the cocoa powder in a couple of tablespoons of very ho****er first. It was delicious!

Does anyone else notice that the Body Fortress Vanilla Cream Whey Isolate has a hint of coconut flavor? Only the Isolate form, not the other one. Idk maybe it's just me lol

I think most of us are drinking the  Body Fortress Vanilla Cream Whey Isolate protein.  Here are some ideas I love from my Bariatric Shake Cookbook:

Add 1 Tablespoon sugar/fat free instant pudding mix and sweetener.  More if you want.  This gives you a variety of flavors.  Blend well, chill for pudding consistency or freeze for ice cream!

Add peanut flour (PB2 from Amazon) for a peanut butter flavor.  They also make a chocolate peanut butter flavor.  (I even add it to vanilla yogurt. . Blend and drink, chill, or freeze.

Add coffee flavorings as well.  I use cinnamon syrup with butter extract, sf apple cider packet, sweetener, and vanilla pudding mix.  Kinda like apple cinnamon pie!

I also make crustless pumpkin pie and blend that in with the protein shake and vanilla pudding.

Congrats! How do you do it? I'm 4 days post op and trying to get the fluids and protein in baby sips at a time. Not there yet but each day is a little better.

When did you post the cream of mushroom soup recipe? I like to try it.

Wow!  13 pounds!  Good for you :).  Thanks for the details, I am getting more and more nervous each day, I have mine in 3 days.  Your post is making me a little less nervous...

I had my surgery on 10/7/14 and I honestly wasn't expecting to feel as good as I do. I have some soreness at the incision that my stomach was removed through, but the other incisions are more itchy than sore, I'm guessing because they're healing. I've been able to get mostly all of my protein and water in, and I'm pretty mobile and have been trying to walk around the neighborhood a couple of times a day. I can't wait till I can walk a mile or two at a time! I've lost about 13lbs since surgery but I'm guessing that is going to slow down once I get to pureed foods. I have my 2 week follow up on the 23rd so I'm guessing I'll get moved to pureed/soft at that time and I'm really looking forward to it!! I've been having 3 four oz shakes per day made with Body Fortress Whey Protein Isolate (30g protein per scoop) plus thinned cream of wheat, strained cream of mushroom soup, strained other soups, sf jello, sf pudding, broth, etc in between shakes. I'm hitting somewhere around 600-800 calories per day. I'm walking maybe 20 min twice a day out in the neighborhood. I'm off of my pain meds since Saturday night and Thursday through Saturday I only took them at night. Let's see...that's all I can think of for now, but if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!!

I'm so sorry I haven't been on the group forum in the last week.. I had my surgery on the 7th, and I've been a little out of it at times since I got home on the 8th lol

I'm doing pretty good, getting in mostly all of my protein and water, not much pain the last several days, but the one incision that my stomach got pulled out through is still sore.

How are your pre-op diets going?

Topic: RE: Eye on the Prize

I can't even tell you how many times I've opted to stand when going to a bbq or outdoor party at a friend's house because I wasn't convinced the outdoor furniture could hold me. I'm terrified of heights and I really think this is a huge contributing factor as to why that is. I don't remember being afraid of heights as a child, I was up on the roof putting up Christmas lights with my mom every year! It's not till adulthood that this came about.

I used to have stepping stone pavers outside in my back yard and they were so beautiful when I put them down but I broke each and every one of them one by one over the course of about 2 weeks after installing.

I could go on with the things I won't miss...most of all though I will be excited to be able to run around with my grandchildren one day. I have always been that mom who sat on the park bench and watched the kids play because I was so overweight and out of shape. When I have grandkids, I want to be that grandma that runs around with them, no more park bench for me!
