October 2014 Sleevers

So since I am already on pain meds for my back and tailbone, it took a while after surgery to get the pain down a bit. I did not sleep the 1st night due to pain but they upped the dose in my pain pump Friday afternoon so that helped. I did not drink much water that day, I was scared to I think...
2nd night I slept a bit better, all of 4 hours. I was feeling queezy the next morning so it was looking like I would spend a 3rd night there...but then I passed gas and then some and felt better :-).
Before I came home I took advantage of a shower chair and my husband helped me take a sitting shower. I highly recommend doing that if you have the opportunity.
My 1st night at home I felt like my new stomach was a baby that I didn't feel ready to take care of. I was scared of over and under eating. Even though I had studied the papers from the dietitian I still had to pull them out to help guide me.
I am now 4 days post op and I am getting my protein and water in. Walking, however, is a challenge for me. It still hurts too bad... Any suggestions? How far were you walking on day 4?
My Egg Salad was SO very good today. I used two eggs for it and it took me all day to eat the entire thing. But I can say that I will probably stay at this stage for a while. Its very comfortable and I don't know if Food, Food will be as easy for my tummy to break down.
I got some different kind of yogurt to mix my protein powder in so hopefully I will start to get some extra protein in. Thanks for listening guys....

No constipation for me. I had awful gas for a few days, and then finally I had a movement. Once I did, it was watering. I know other sleevers use Miralex to help them. Maybe call you surgeons office about using it.
thanks. Still managing liquids and shakes. Moving around. Will drive carpool tomorrow. Any advice on constipation?
Hi Susie!
Congrats on the surgery. The one thing I will tell you is that when I took my first shower at home and washed my hair, I was exhausted! Good luck and let us know if we can help.
I had my VSG on Wednesday and everything went smoothly. Better than I could have imagined. I was up and walking within two hours of being in my room and able to handle the clear liquids easily. The nursing staff was wonderfully supportive. I appreciated being able to walk the hall and move around. I was released on Thursday and went straight to the support group that happened to be meeting. Home all day today getting in all water and shakes. I am sore using ice packs on that bigger incision and heat on my back. Tomorrow I hope to shower and get dressed. Just putz around the house. Thanks for listening.
I look forward to scooting around and moving my body. Letting the tiredness of my muscles not my weight what ends a work out. I want to dance with my husband and sons. I want to run with my dogs. I just want to live more comfortably.
I am glad to learn you are doing well. That one incision does certainly is uncomfortable. Cheers to you on your journey!
