Hi Sooz, I feel guilty saying I am on a 1400 calorie diet.  It really isn't hard for me with the aids of my Bariatric shake cookbook and the program 'my fitness pal'.  Those clear liquid diets look aweful!

Oh my, you have to give up caffeine too?  What a bummer!  Luckily all I drink is water so I Dont have that battle too...

I am camping this weekend so as my family is munching more than usual I will be counting calories.  Not complaining though, at least I can eat food.

Ellen

This is my first chat group too and this forum has been an awesome resource!  My surgery is on the 20th, so I'm excited (and anxious) to hear  how your surgery went.

How is your pre-op diet going?  It seems like everyone has different pre-op diet rules.  I'm on day 3 and I made the mistake of trying to cut out caffeine as well as be on a low carb diet.  The headache was horrible and I was a rip-roaring ******  for two days.  I've decided to wean off the caffeine and everyone likes me much better!  Last night I had enough carbs left to have a small piece of bread with peanut butter and a teaspoon of jam.  OMG, heaven!

Topic: Wonderful protein shake cookbook!

Hello everyone!  I found a book on Amazon by Nikki Massie called "The Bariatric Foodie Guide to Perfect Protein Shakes".  It has been my saving grace getting me ready for my surgery on the 16th!  It also gives tips on how to make ice cream from the protein shakes :-)..  All ingredients are sugar and fat free!

Hello fellow sleeves!  I have never been a part of a chat group but now seems like the right time!  I have 8 days to go for my life changing surgery on the 16th and I am excited and nervous!  I am excited to go through this with all of you!

Well, if you didn't sleep last night you can get some rest with the aid of pain meds after surgery!  Get well rested, stay hydrated and keep us posted!!  Wishing you the best of luck and a speedy recovery.

Topic: Pre-Op Diet - Day 1!

This is finally becoming soooo real.  I am kind of glad that there is a pre-op diet.  It's really helping me with my mindset that I need to plan what I eat to meet the guidelines.  Much like, planning what to eat after surgery so that I get the right amount of protein daily.

I did carb binge this weekend with all my friends and family who are supporting me through this, so I went out with a big bang!

The pre-op diet that my doc has me on isn't so bad.  Keep carbs at 40 grams per day - that's the only rule.  No calorie or fat restrictions.  I feel like I can be successful with this for 2 weeks.

How is everyone else doing?  At this point in the month we've got pre-ops and post-ops!

Hey Yolanda,

You must be getting pretty excited! Everything still on schedule for surgery next Monday?  I start my pre-op diet on Monday.  I will consider my self super lucky that it's not liquid, just carb-restricted.  Therefore, I won't do a bit of complaining about what I can't eat during my pre-op diet.

Sending good vibes your way as you get closer to your date!
