I had my surgery Thursday the 16th

So since I am already on pain meds for my back and tailbone, it took a while after surgery to get the pain down a bit.  I did not sleep the 1st night due to pain but they upped the dose in my pain pump Friday afternoon so that helped.  I did not drink much water that day, I was scared to I think...

2nd night I slept a bit better, all of 4 hours.  I was feeling queezy the next morning so it was looking like I would spend a 3rd night there...but then I passed gas and then some and felt better :-).

Before I came home I took advantage of a shower chair and my husband helped me take a sitting shower.  I highly recommend doing that if you have the opportunity.

My 1st night at home I felt like my new stomach was a baby that I didn't feel ready to take care of.  I was scared of over and under eating.  Even though I had studied the papers from the dietitian I still had to pull them out to help guide me.

I am now 4 days post op and I am getting my protein and water in.  Walking, however, is a challenge for me.  It still hurts too bad...  Any suggestions?  How far were you walking on day 4?

Hi ! My surgery date was October 13, I had a great deal of pain too! Now I feel pretty good, except for the occasional nausea. I visit my surgeon for my week post op. There is still a little pain on my right side, it gets uncomfortable at times. This surgery, reminded me of how I felt after my C-section, in pain, yet excited! I find out later how much weight I've lost. Walking , I try to do as much as possible, but I take my pain meds first, so that I'm not in soo much pain. I also hold a small pillow on my right as I walk that helps a bit too !

I didn't use the shower chair, but my husband gave me a shower. I felt terrible that I had to ask him to do it, but he didn't mind (9 years of marriage and I still feel bad when I have to ask him to help me do things that I feel I should do).

I was scared to sleep on my first night, but I took the pay meds and I didn't feel anything after that until I woke up.

Walking was great to me, but not until I passed A LOT of gas. So by day 4-5, I was walking pretty good (about 1/4 of a mile) and driving by day 10. Sunday which would be day 13 I walked over 7 miles. I was in a walking competition. I will say that I did a lot of walking pre-surgery.
