How are you doing post op?

As we are having our surgeries I feel it would be helpful to try to check in and let us know how you are doing.  We are all in this together.  Please be honest, no matter how bad it is.  We are here to support one another.

I, for one, am concerned for the ones who have had their surgeries.  How are you?

I'm 5 days post op and I feel really good! I'm getting almost all of the water recommended in, as well as most of the recommended  protein. It's not a piece of cake but I'm gettting it done :) I've also been up walking around the neighborhood as often as possible. I'm not in much pain just the incision site where I believe they removed my stomach is sore. Overall, doing well

I'm sore there as well. I feel good in all places but that one. It's just a little tender/sore.

I'm 6 days out and I am doing very well. Sometimes I cannot believe that I feel this good. I'm not driving, but  I'm up walking around and drinking fluids. I'm an NOT, I repeat NOT getting all of my protein in, but I'm trying. I'm never really hungry or thirsty, but I keep reminding myself to eat.

I take my pain meds at night because I'm a little sore from walking and I'm a crazy sleeper. If it were not for that, I would probably not take any pain meds. I'm on the fence about taking it tonight because I feel pretty good. Still a little sore especially on area...I assume where they took my stomach out from that area.

I am glad you are doing well!  May I ask why you are not getting your protein in?  Just not hungry or feeling sick?  Also, how is it taking meds?  I have quite a few I take at night..

I'm getting some protein in. Just not enough. My first priority is staying hydrated so I'm always drinking water. I found that I drinking so much water that I rarely have room for anything else. I take a few sips of applesauce or soup and I'm done. I'm sure it will get better. As far as my medicine., I'm on liquid pain medication so it goes down pretty good. Let me know if you think of any other questions

Definitely, your water is the first priority. What kind of protein are you using? I was told to use Beneprotein for the 2 weeks after surgery but it only has 6g per scoop and it tastes awful! I asked if I could use a different one and they said Body Fortress in the Isolate form. That one has 30g per scoop and I mix it with 4 oz of water, so there isn't as much to get down but in a small amount of liquid there's a lot of protein. The downside is it only comes in Vanilla Cream and Chocolate  but I figure I can handle it as long as I'm getting the protein in.

It will definitely get better. We've gotten through the hardest part, I think. We are going to do this!
