HI I just had my surgery on the 11th and although I know it's only been a lil over 2 weeks. Went to see my Doctor and he still wants me on liquids but says for me to try to eat something small only ONCE a day. I tried eating some cottage cheese and it hurt so bad it felt like a ton of bricks in my tummy and I am using a baby spoon and only ate three spoons. I am cramping like as if I have to go diahrreah and it seems everything I am trying from yogurt to SF Jello it is going through me and I end up with Diahrrea and pain in my tummy that reaches my back I am uncomfortable and getting very frustrated  please help and send me advice I appreciate it.

GOD BLESS

I replied to you on the main forum but I thought of some other things.

I can't tell what phase you're in. Liquid? Mushies?

Try soups thinned with Lactaid. Tey cream of wheat also thinned with Lactaid.

Stay away from dairy for now. It tears my tummy up.

Hi Raquel
I'm dealing with cramping too.  My doc/nut are monitoring, but they still let me move to full liquids...OUCH!  They think it may be related to the hernia repair, but the pain I experience does not match the docs description, so I'm not totally sold that it's the hernia.  He did mention that if it continues, he may need to stretch the area to give me relief, but wants my body to heal a bit more just to make sure it doesn't resolve itself.

I haven't found anything except my thinned cream soups that don't hurt. The next thing that has minimal pain are sf ice pops and italian ice.  I eat it between lunch and dinner and at night to combat my lack of intake otherwise.

Protein shakes hurt like heck no matter how small the sip, so I hope you don't experience this.  It takes me 16+ hours to finish 11 ounces.  Also the sf pudding, holy heck!  What did I do to somebody to deserve pain like that?

If I find another food that slides without or with minimal cramping, I'll let you know, but with such limited options, I don't know how much I'll find.

Thank you for answering my posts I am in so much pain right now that nothing is going down! The thing about it is that I was doing really good but than got hit with a cold which set me back and now that it is leaving and I have had my 2 week check up it seems that all of a sudden I am in such pain that it is almost unbearable I am miserable and not happy at all. I was having fear that something is going wrong with my new tummy that I would have such pain. The doc/nut wants me to go to eating one meal a day in another week, drinking fluids still than moving to protein twice a day breakfast and lunch and a full meal for dinner, I don't know how I am going to do this when I can't even drink my boost, sf popsicles, jello, without being in so much pain. I was wondering if maybe it would be gas too because it travels right from my tummy to my back it all hurts my lower part of my body! PAIN PAIN PAIN!

GOD BLESS

If it's traveling around it might be gas.

If you can walk, if the surgeon cleared you for walking, get as much in as you can tolerate.

Let it out. don't hold it in which ever direction it decides to go. I know that's gross, but we are all kind of pre-wired to hold farts in. That is not a good thing for you to do.

Stay away from dairy for now until you start feeling better. It could make you more gasy. Try bland things, like mashed potatoes and cream of wheat (watered down to a thin consistency).

I hope you feel better soon.

Thank you slim I am so miserable right now. I have been walking but I can't seem to get in as much as I was walking before I caught the cold. I was just wondering if it was a possibility of gas and if so I was wondering if anyone knows if taking GAS-X to help relieve it. But I am just worried and scared so if I seem as if I am worrying to much I'm sorry I just didn't have this much pain before I got this cold and now that I am getting over it and have seen my doctor all of a sudden I have this pain in my stomach that reaches my back and it hurts so much that all I can do is lay down. I only drink a few swigs of my boost and it is like pain and diahrreah FAST!  I used to have it in my throat but that has gone away now it is just in my stomach and back. I'm just lost for words and just like the prior post I keep asking What did I do so wrong that I am in so much pain! I read how everyone's life has changed for the better and yet I seem to have gone in the opposite direction  Sorry for being such a downer but happiness is nothing I am feeling right now

I've heard Gas-x works, but I didn't use any. I think they have in those strips that desolve on your tongue.

So, I keep thinking about this and I wonder if you have drainage or possibly a sinus infection from the cold. That would definitely upset your stomach. Maybe you should go see your PCP and have that checked out.

I've had allergies and sinus infections for years and a lot of drainage from a cold can be very rough on a tummy, especially a new tummy.

Don't give up. You deserve to have an answer to this and have this resolved. If you aren't getting the answers you need, try a different approach. A stomach surgeon may not think about a sinus infection, but a PCP or an Allergist would.

Keep advocating for yourself until you get what you need. It's your right to feel good and be healthy. If you have to, go to the ER and they will check you out from the hood to the trunk, so to speak.

Let us know how it goes.

Your doctor isn't concerned at all? I was sleeved on the same day and am on a mushy diet but I have been able to tolerate even small chunks of food, except egg. Is is a dairy intolerance? Have you tried the soy or Lactaid products? If even the Jello is causing issues I would ask the doctors advice, possible an irritable bowel issue?
I wish you much luck!

Hi I had a lil bit of mashed potatoes today thought I would try something a lil less dairy although I did add milk and butter to my potatoes and the pain wasn't as bad I think it is subsiding a lil bit. I am not sure about the irritable bowels as I am having bowel movements, it seems everything I am eating is going right through me and giving me a small amount of diahrreah before having a solid one. Wow I feel like this is just a lil to much information yet I know that we all have been through this at some time or the other a lil embarrassing yet I know someone out there has gone through the same thing. . I was able to tolerate egg before just recently I have developed this pain issue. Yes My doctor seems to be skipping the mushies not sure why though I am still on liquids but have added potatoes now and than to help me get through the small bumps. My doc wants me to start next week on boost for brkfst and lunch and a full meal for dinner and when I asked you want me to start eating like food food or blended he said no eat a meal like chicken, turkey, fish and a vegetable but make it a small portion. Thank you for the advice that you all are sharing with me and allowing me to have these fears and upsets GOD BLESS
