OCT 2011 Sexy Sleevers!!
Yay for Oct Sleevers
Well I am post op day 5 had my surgery on the 4th, today I am feeling much better than any other day so far. My hospital experience was good, no major pain or even the gas pains everyone talks about, I had a single port incision at my navel and one other teeny tiny one because my surgeon says I have thin skin what ever that meant lol anyway I guess my first night was the most painful and coming out of anesthesia but I am quick to come out of that stuff so i was awake from the time they took me from the OR gurney to my bed heading toward PACU (where you recoup for several hours) I was well aware and made comfortable with pain meds in there and the first two night stays with the pain pump it was needed for me to sleep only because I just had some pain in the center of my chest and just couldn;t get comfy. I have to say for me the worse part was when I had to do my leak test day 2 where you have to drink this yucky stuff so they make sure your sleeve incision is not leaking, I almost lost it because they kept making me sip it until finally i said if i take one more sip i will barf they stopped and I had no leaks. Then I was giving clear liquids and everything went down fine. Other then that and getting up and walking for the first time it was not that bad. Walking and sipping is your job for awhile and that is what i concentrate on all the time. I am now walking faster, can eat a whole popcicle at one setting, don;'t think the fullness feeling comes into effect until we start eating solid foods so as for the liquids they go down well sips no guzzling though. Today i was able to take some of my pills not chewables either but swallowed whole so happy about that, I am not tired at all and just rest here and there between sipping and walking, rest is important but I just am not all that tired but it is important for the healing process so rest sip walk repeat. So all in all so far it has not been that bad at all the first few days are a little hard not gonna lie, had some "Why did i do this moments" but they left quickly, kind of mourning food but not really hungry for just mourning it but I will be eating solids before i know it, everyone says the first few weeks are the hardest and the transition stage so I am just going with the flow and glad to be on the losers bench!!! Best of luck to you and a speedy recovery keep us October sleevers posted on your experience!!
