Aloha,
My name is Merrie Han I am 34 yrs old and I am from Kaneohe (windward side)  I had my surgery a little over a year ago in october 2010.  I had the Realize band done at Castle Hospital in Kailua and I am trying to get preggos.  My obgyn would like for me to lose more weight (currently at 230).  She wants me to get to 215 so that is my goal right now.  Before I had my surgery I was at 270 so I have come a long way from that number, and once I passed the 1 year mark for my surgery I thought "let's have a baby".  It was quite a shock to find out that I still needed to lose more weight for a healthy pregnancy.  My obgyn told me that I could try to get pregnant, but that it would be a high risk pregnancy and that could not only effect me, but my baby.  So here I am trying to get to that goal weight.

Hi Merrie! My name is Danie and I am from the mainland where I had the RNY Bypass in Kansas. I am in kinda the same situation. I had my surgery in Dec. 2010 and am not in baby mode :) I am also trying to get pregnant as but still not at goal. I have to loose 50 more lbs to be at the recommended weight for my height and am slowly working on that. I figure if I get pregnant then I will just try to gain the healthy amount throughout my pregnancy then concentrait on loosing the last 50lbs after I have a baby ;)

 Hi Danie,
I am glad to hear I am not alone.  I really was not making to much effort before I went to the obgyn appointment.  I thought "If my WL surgeon gave me the ok, than let's do it" and he did give me the ok.  I was having a problem with my monthly cycle so I went to see my obgyn and that was when she gave me a big reality check.  I broke down in tears in front of her and I know she must of have felt bad.  But in the end, she is right and this is what I want to do for myself.  Yes my husband and I can get pregnant now (my cycle is back on track) but in the back of my mind, I feel I got to do this right.  I think it is the librarian in me that wants to keep everything nice and order...just follow the dewey decimal...LOL.

LOL. We can do it girl! I am now keeping track of my diet again...I hadn't done it since right after surgery but my nutritionist suggested since my weight loss stalled to start it again. I ate really really awefully this week but I still kept track of everything. My goal was to stay under 1200 cal a day and I though oh this will be easy I can't eat much anyway still. Oh no..we hadn't gone grocery shopping so we only had crappy food my hubby eats and then going out to eat as options and I don't have a vehicle to get around when he goes to work....so he grilled this weekend and I ended up eating left overs a lot like cheese burgers and pork chops and pasta salad. Those calories daily have been around 1300 instead of 1200. At least we finally did go shopping today so I can get back on track on eating healthy...but man oh man my nutrisionist is gonna get on me. And I found out hubby has to go to Korea for 3 weeks and is gonna miss Valentines Day...not cool.
