Having or considering surgery?
January 3, 2012 6:43 am
Hi all!

My name is Angela and I had gastric bypass surgery on December 8, 2011. Although I'm still very much on the weight loss surgery journey, I would like this area to be a place where you can come with questions about weight loss surgery, resources, or life after surgery. I'm ready and willing to answer any questions you have about the pre-surgery process and what to expect during surgery (although it will vary depending on which surgery you have and where you have it done).

Life after gastric bypass is amazing! I've only lost 24 pounds and am currently experiencing my first stall just two weeks after surgery but it's a part of the entire process. Realize that just because you had surgery doesn't mean that you still won't experience some of the disappointments and obstacles that you may have encountered before surgery. But let me tell you, it's amazing to get up in the morning and not feel hungry or in any way obsessed about food. For me, this surgery "cured" my pre-hypertension immediately after the surgery...amazing. And I've not dealt with any dumping syndromes or other problems (but I've been very careful to follow doctor and dietician recommendations). Yes, weight loss surgery is doable...but it is not the complete answer to weight loss. It is hard work! WLS is only a tool...a resource to help you accomplish your long term goals of health and well-being.

I'll update more later...giving you some stats about my progress. If you have questions or want to start a dialogue on this blog, feel free. I'll answer as soon as I can!
