Topic: Vanderbilt - Friday Support Group
There is a support group meeting this Friday at 11:30 A.M. at Vanderbilt. I will be there and would love to see anyone that can make it there too. It is a great opportunity to meet patients who have undergone weight loss surgery, and have your questions and concerns answered. Can't wait to see you there....

Trina,
Things are going well. I am waiting for Vanderbilt to submit everything to Cigna. Which, I've been calling like crazy and have been told possibly tomorrow they will be faxing everything. I've had so many medical appointments the past 2 months my head is spinning. It's nice to know that Vanderbilt wants all of their ducks in a row before doing anything, but IT'S DRIVING ME CRAZY! I'm so excited about the surgery, and yet scared to death. I started crying the other night because I started thinking crazy things like "what if the surgery doesn't work for me" and "what if my diabetes doesn't go away" I know the surgery will work for me, and eventually my diabetes will go away it's just my lovely self-doubting.
I've been put on this new medication, atenolol, to try and lower my heart rate and it's been giving me horrible head aches. I am constantly living with a head ache and am trying not to take anything for it.
As for the exercise room, I'm trying to get a tv in there. It's just difficult to move the satellite wire from one bedroom to another because I have to send my husband under the house to do it. I do have a radio, and am trying to figure out the best kind of mp3 player to get so I can have all the music I want right at my finger tips. I'm thinking about trying to do 20 minutes of exercise in the morning and 20 minutes in the evening.
So keep me in your thoughts that hopefully in 8 weeks I'll be having my surgery. I hope everything is going well for you.
Heather

Hi CDouglas,
What a great post. You know I never thought about that. Back prior to WLS I was taking tons of med.'s... I wonder which ones interefered with what?
Now several years later and 165 pounds lost, I no longer take all those meds. thank God... I have really struggled with the Anti depressant's and made a radical decision last October that I would come off all the antidepressents cold turkey....(I would not recommend this to anyone without consulting their doctor.. it can be dangerous.) I had to do what I thought was best for me. Now 4 months later I feel better emotionally than I have felt in a long time. I think clearer I sleep better the list goes on and on. Don't get me wrong, I still have bad days like everyone else.., I still have my blue times too.. but I daily learn new coping skills and I now take things 5 minutes at a time not a day at a time...

Hi Heather,
It is so good to see you..
How are things going? Where are you at in the process now?
Falling off the exercise wagon is so easy to do isn't it? Having a third bedroom set up for exercising is really cool. Wish I had one of those... Is there anyway you can put a tv in there.... If not how about a CD player with some of your favorite tunes blaring... Lets see, if it were me I would be blasting the best of the Bee Gee's...oops showing my age huh?
Sometimes it may help if you break up the routine in smaller time incriments, lets say 15 minutes at a time throughout the day as opposed to trying to tackle it all at once....

Topic: A Vitamin Guideline That Might Help
I am so sorry I did not post this for CDouglas sooner. I thought I had. I received an email from Sharon asking me to reply to CDouglas' post cause she was wanting to know too... Please forgive me...
I take the following supplements:
Conison Cap Ethex (Iron) one capsule by mouth everyday
Vitamin D 50000 IU Cap Pliva
Citrical Calcium Citrate Caplets + D the D has 400 IU the calcium has 630 mg
Acidophilus 1 Billion CFU's 2 tablets twice a day
Centrum Chewable multi vitamin one tablet every day
B 12 high potency sublingual 2500 mcg
B 12 Injection every 2 weeks
My Iron, B 12, Multi Vitamin and Acidophillus can be taken at the same time.
My Calcium and Vitamin D can be taken at the same time, and I have to keep them seperated from the others.
So my routine looks like this:
Morning: Multivit, B12, Iron, Acidophillus
Lunch: Calcium plus D
Dinner: Calcium plus D, Acidophillus
I take Acidophillus because I can not seem to tolerate yogart. I think it is more of a mind thing really, it kind of grosses me out... But I do beieve after Bob L and Stuckin Texas urgings, I am gonna really try to give the Fage greek yogurt a try....
I hope this helps, Trina

Topic: ways to get motivated to exercse
I've kinda fallen off the wagon with exercising and I'm trying to get back in the routine of things and I was wondering what everyone does to stay motivated with exercising. Any tips would be helpful. Just to give you an idea, I have my third bedroom set up as my exercise room and it currently doesn't have a tv in it and I'm basically in there by myself with my cats looking at me and my puppy trying to jog with me. So I'm unable to exercise in the living room because the equipment is to heavy to lug around.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Topic: RE: Medication Warnings
Thanks for the post I've always been told that we should let our Doctors know all of our med's and supplements as well as all over the counter med's.. But other then what you pointed out I never thought of the absorption issue in regards to other medication. Good post Thanks Bob
