Trina,
I guess when referring to the V8 and the sauces and such I'm wondering about the diet I'm following now, which I've been told by Jennifer, my nutritionist, is what I'll be following when I'm on the regular texture diet after the surgery.

Thanks for the tip on the insurance company.  I may just give them a call today to make sure they have everything.

Hi Heather,

I am so excited to hear you have had your paperwork submitted to insurance.  This is the most nerve wrecking part of the process in my opinion...

Just a word of advice here.  You still need to be very proactive even at this juncture of the process.  Make a call to your insurance company verifying if they have received your request with supporting documentation, and if so what date were those documents received.  That way you know for sure things are where they need to be.

Who is your nutritionist?  I am sorry that you are not getting a response to your emails..  I have never had that happen with any of the staff at the VMC Weight Loss Center...  You are valuable to them sweetie and no question is ever too simple or you can never ask too many....  They very much want you to succeed...  If you are a winner then they are a winner...  Or we can turn that around to say if you are a loser then they are a winner.....   Okay, just being corny there...  Anywho let me know if you are still having a problem and we can get some help for sure...

I have a question...  There are 5 Diet phases after weight loss surgery. Which phase are you referring to when you ask about V8, sauces, yogurt and fruit?  It does make a difference..........   The 5 phases are 1) Clear Liquids, 2) Full Liquids, 3) Pureed, 4) Soft, 5) Regular Texture.... You will be spending a certain amount of time on each one....

OK V-8 is high in sodium if that's what they have you watching unless you buy the low sodium V-8 which taste like crap. As far as counting it as a veg. serving I guess it would qualify. They do have low sodium soy sauce but teriyaki sauce will be high in sugar, hot sauce is also high but I don't know to what degree they are restricting your sodium?? I believe with regards to the yogurt they would rather you use the fat free yogurt add a little equal and frozen berries. Really read the labels yogurt can have any where between 8g-38g of sugar per serving post surgery this can cause you to dump. Hope this helps. C'ya Bob

Okay helpful friends I have some questions.  I've e-mailed my nutritionist a couple times and have not received an answer from her so I'll post my questions here because I know someone will know the answers.  Maybe the answers are so simple she doesn't feel the need to respond, that or I've bugged her so much she's tired of me.  So okay here goes:

Could I use V8 juice as a vegetable serving?

Also what do I consider low sodium soy sauce, teriyaki, hot sauce?

Finally she said that I could have 6oz of yogurt with fruit.  Does that mean I have an apple with my yogurt?  Or do I buy the yogurt with the fruit in it?  That to me is so vague.

Any help I'd apprecaite it.

Oh by the way, everything was submitted to insurance on 2/26 so hopefully I'll hear something soon!

I feel the same way.  I've debated about having this surgery for about 2 years and now that I'm ready for it,I want to get it done NOW!  Thanks for the website, I might try that out.  I did find out some good news.  They have finally submitted my information to Cigna and according to the insurance lady she said they have been hearing responses in about 2 weeks.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll have surgery before Easter.

Speaking of which, does anyone know how long it takes to get in to have the surgery once the insurance approval comes back?

If you can set up your computer or laptop in your exercise room you can go to www.veoh.com and watch old tv shows for free. I am into Emergency, Adam 12 and Dragnet right now. I am waiting on my surgery too so I know how you feel. I too have Cigna and am trying to get everything accomplished for them to authorize the surgery. I seen what the surgery did for  my husband and his diabetes improved and he was off of insulin shots 2 months after the surgery so I know we will see benefits. The most frustrating thing is the wait. Once I commit to something I am ready for it to be done.
