Wow, Char! Awesome to have a veteran here among us! What a great topic. Thanks for starting this thread.

Well - as most of you know - I am T-3 days and counting for my surgery on Friday, March 12th. I'm hanging in there but the nerves are pretty well shot. I've tried to back out (not seriously) three or four times. I'm very excited about this opportunity for change in my life and I'm really glad that I've got a fellow group of Marylanders helping me along the way.

I started my pre-op liquid diet on March 1st. Since then I have lost about 15 lbs. as of last weigh-in. I'm trying not to get obsessed with the scale. The doctor only wants me weighing once a week. I'll start that next week!  LOL

Char - I'm ready for the party to start - I also saw that you're only a little over a month away from your plastic surgery!  WOOT!!!

Can't wait to hear from our other friends out there - remember to invite fellow Marylanders to join us!

Blessings and peace,
Jeri

Hi, Char! Welcome to the group. Wow - you've had some awesome weight loss! I think that most of us are pre-op here, so we'll definitely be interested in gaining some insight from you!

Dr. Averbach and Dr. Singh seem to be used a lot by people in our area! My Dr. is Dr. Singh.
Look forward to sharing with you!

Thanks for joining in!

Topic: Monthly Chat???
I'm thinking of starting a monthly chat for our group - nothing mandatory, obviously, but something that is consistent every month so that if people want to visit they know when it is. I'm keeping photos, member lists and chats private for just group members. I'm advertising the group publicly so that Maryland residents will know that we're here!

So, please let me know the following:

1. Would you be interested in a monthly chat?
2. Would evening or daytime be better?
3. Would a weekday or weekend be better?

Please let me know how you feel about these 3 questions and we'll go from there! I probably won't start this until April because I'm having surgery this Friday - but April is only about 3 weeks away!

Have a GREAT day!

Topic: Introductions - please post!
Hi, folks! I'll introduce myself properly in a moment - but wanted to let you know that I've visited the Columbia, MD group here on OH and invited them to take a look at our group as well. My goal in starting this group is to supplement what's already out there. I felt that the individual "city" groups were too restrictive and I'd like to meet people from all over the area.

So - with that said -

I'm Jeri and I've been living in Maryland for almost 19 years. I moved here from California to be with my (at the time) future husband who already lived here. That wonderful man, Jonathan, has been my husband now for almost 18 years and we have a great life together. We live in Columbia and have been in the same neighborhood for about 15 years. I'm a VERY YOUNG 56 years old and I'm mother to two adult children, Justin - age 31 and Joanne - age 21. Both of them are married and we're enjoying our "empty nest." even though I miss being with my daughter!

I've been looking into WLS for years, but kept chickening out until now. I'm scheduled for LapBand surgery this Friday (March 12th) and very excited, but also very nervous. I've topped the scales at 320 and have yo-yoed for years. My most recent weight gain came as a result of medical issues that caused me to retire from my job as a Church Business Administrator.

I look forward to getting to know each member of the group on a more personal basis as we share our struggles, our challenges and our joys! We're all in this together and having the support can only help make it easier for all of us!

Take care, have a great day and please let me know how I can help make this group better meet your needs!

Blessings and peace,

Jeri
