I hope you find this group as helpful as I have. Couldn't have gotten back/stayed on track without their caring and support.
I believe you can look forward to a reduction in your pain with the proper eating and weight loss than comes with bariatric surgery.
I wish you well.

Topic: Off Track?
If you've read my blog, I am putting together a Weight Loss Purpose Statement. Part of the process is listing words and phrases that describe how I feel when I'm off track and making unhealthy food and exercise choices. I'd like your help.
Please share either here on this thread or send me a PM with any thoughts and input you have. This is very important to me and while I can think of some of the things, I'm sure there are things I'm not thinking of. The common experience of being morbidly obese, having weight loss surgery, and developing new, healthy coping strategies are something we share.
Thanks for your help! I very much appreciate it.

Thank you Cathy, I can honestly say that when I thought of doing this I wa**** by several raod blocks. I lost two family members back to back. I fell in a store and broke my right ankle but I was st on have my surgery done. I persisted and when I look at me now I am glad I did. I try to encourage others who are thinking of having this surgery to set a goal and follow through to achieve it.

Congratulations on your six month surgery anniversary! You have done amazingly well. Just think, you'll never see those 83 pounds again. Bye-bye 83 lbs!!
I'm glad you're a member of my group. Post or contact me anytime.
Again, congrats!

I just completed my first six months on the 15th of March. I have lost 83 pounds so far and I feel very well. I never joined any group and there were many times I felt I needed support. Thank you for forming this group.
Topic: Price of Beauty and my thoughts on our inner beauty
Ever since the days of Jessica Simpson's reality show with her ex-husband, I've thought she was an airhead. I didn'****ch the show but I heard enough sound bites to make the assumption she was someone that had the beauty but not high on brains.
I am happy to share with you that I was wrong. I bought into the schtick of that show. I had read about Jessica Simpson's new show "The Price of Beauty" and I figured it would be equally superficial and boring until I saw an interview with her. The point of the show is about what is beauty in various cultures in the world. Interesting topic for sure.
One of the things I've always said about this journey of weight loss surgery is that so many post-ops work on the outside yet don't go inside to figure out why and how they use food to manage their emotions. When people stop with the external of losing weight and possibly plastic surgery, they haven't completed the process, in my opinion. The real work is inside. What causes us to turn to food to comfort, soothe, take the edge off our emotions? Unless we do this, we are at risk for weight regain. Again, my opinion but I believe it strongly.
So the first episode was last night. Jessica and a couple of her friends went to Thailand. In Thailand, a couple of ways they define and measure beauty are: (1) Fair skin coloring (ME!!). People that are tan are not considered attractive. To the point that some women use a skin bleacher; and, (2) Inner beauty makes the outer beautiful. That is definitely what I believe. Live inside to our outsides! With those two criteria, I should live there - LOL!!
I look forward to future shows. I hope they are as insightful and meaningful as the first one was.
To our inner and outer beauty!!

Topic: Procrastination!
I've never thought of myself as a procrastinator. I think I have become one! We have an appointment to get our taxes done and I waited until the last minute to get it organized and calculated. I cause myself more stress when I procrastinate.
I never used to procrastinate. Actually, I took great satisfaction in the fact that I would anticipate things needing to be done and complete them on time or ahead of time.
So, I'm writing this to all of you that I am aware of this new propensity I have somehow picked up. I know it is nothing more than a habit (bad habit!!). Just like when we have surgery we need to ditch old habits that didn't work for us and develop new, healthy habits. While procrastination doesn't exactly translate to eating and exercise, it does cause me some anxiety. The task I need to complete is there, hanging over my head, draining some of my energy nagging at me to get it done. When I feel drained or anxious, my head hunger tends to kick in.
I'm happy and excited that I discovered something about myself that I can change to improve myself.

Hi Kathy,
I've been struggling too, but I am 16 months out and still losing which, I need to stop, I really do watch what I eat, and do keep track of it, I use a hand held device that I purchased from coheso.com
it's called calorie smart, but I have the one that you can download to your computer. I try to get any where from 90 to 120 grams of protein in, and about 90 or more carbs, I don't count calories, but
I have some stress going on in my life and I am sure that's not helping.. Thanks for your posts
