Cathy, Thanks for the information. This sounds like a great ideal to me. I will bring it up to our school and see what they are doing. I know we do the 5-3-1 and almost none campaign  here. All our kids know it. It is presented in schools, Dr's office and everywhere you go. I which all this education was available when I was a kid.  Childhood obesity is growing so fast in this country. What are we doing to our kids ?? It has to start at home. See all lighter. Joanne

Topic: Get out!
One of the ways I've found to combat head hunger is to change my environment. My family room and kitchen sometimes seem like landmines. When my head hunger is really talking to me, I get out. I go outside. I've found by changing my surroundings, I change my perspective.

Whether it is watching birds at my bird feeder in my back yard to taking a walk in the park, immerse yourself in nature. Spending time in nature can restore your soul, lift your spirits, make your heart sing, and keep you going in times of trouble. Take a nature retreat the next time you want to feel recharged, ready to meet challenges, or silence the head hunger.

Topic: Eat The Rainbow!

OH Support Group Leader Joanne (Hambear) is very active in the cause of childhood obesity.  I've told her that our school district is working to combat childhood obesity.  I wanted to share with her and you their latest promotion for fruits and vegetables.  I've never thought of eating the rainbow but it is a fabulous idea for our kids AND us as post-ops!! Here is the announcement: EAT THE RAINBOW!!! Lunch on January 31st We have an exciting day coming soon.  On Thursday, we will be encouraging students to "Eat The Rainbow!"  When students eat fruits and vegetables of different vibrant colors they are ensuring their bodies of excellent nutrition.  To have fun eating the rainbow, our lunch room will look a little different on Thursday: *A sous chef from the Hilton will be assisting dietary and culinary students from College of the Ozarks with cooking a snack for all of our students. *Our very own student chefs from our Nutrition Advisory Council will be helping. *The lunch room will be decorated to reinforce "Eat The Rainbow." *Students will be viewing a fun entertaining video on getting "Five A Day." We'll all have fun Eating the Rainbow together! Great idea! Cathy www.LoseWeightFindLife.com

Topic: You Are Courageous
Do you consider yourself courageous?

Traditionally, people have associated courage with acts by selfless acts of rescue workers during a disaster, or the surgeon who undertakes a risky operation and saves someone's life. While these concepts of courage are accurate, they can limit and rob us of seeing courage in everyday actions. Everyday life is about all of us that exemplify tremendous courage in our daily adventures and struggles.

Courage is the kindergartner whose heart is pounding with fear, fighting back tears as he waves good-bye to his parents and walks into his classroom for the first day of school. Courage is also the 40-year old man that registers for college courses after being away from college for 20 years. Courage is the woman that leaves her secure job to work from home as an independent consultant. Courage is walking into a gym when you'd rather run out the front door. Courage is wanting to eat to silence an uncomfortable feeling yet choosing to feel the feelings rather than suppress with food. What's common to all of these examples is that courage is played out in everyday actions of all of us.

What each of us can do is search for constant examples of courage in ourselves. Yes, YOU! By noticing, acknowledging, talking about, and celebrating these everyday acts of courage, we increase the opportunities for courage to feel more comfortable and reoccur in our lives. When we raise our awareness of courage, we begin to see how brave we are in tackling each day of our lives.

You are courageous. You are a hero in your everyday life. Congratulations!
