Randy Pausch a professor and wonderful man, died a couple of weeks ago at 47 years of age, but this was his
"Last Lecture" on achieving your dreams. He delivered it after he learned he had terminal cancer and about 3-6 months to live.
He was on Oprah, written a book (on my iPod) and interviewed many times. He was so inspiring to me. I wantto share it with you. It's a bit lengthy, but well worth watching. Be prepared to be inspired.

As many of you know, I have a large herniated disc in my neck. It has been a huge challenge as I have pain all the time. I had my second injection procedure this morning.
The injection procedure is done in the hospital because of the location in my spine and the size of it. I'm put under with i.v. sedation. I don't know why but I am in horrible pain after this one. If it helps though, it will all be worth it.
Thank you for all of your good thoughts and well wishes that you've sent to me. I appreciate your ongoing support.

Thanks for posting this link.
Dave and I subscribe to the Nutrition Action Newsletter which is a non-profit organization that researches and publishes this newsletter. The newsletter covers different types of medical conditions, foods and has recipes. I've subscribed to it for years and love it.
Remember the review done on the movie theater popcorn a few years ago? It was this organization.
You can use the link that Dave shared above to check out the organization and newsletter. I highly recommend it.
Thanks, Dave.

I absolutely love your comparison of RNY with the effort and greater weight loss to the mindset of some kids (and adults too). It makes me think of the saying that you get out of life whatever you put into it. You just brought the focus down to something we all relate to with our surgery.
I've heard that boys are easier than girls. I have a 12 year old (for 3 more days!!!) son and a 10 year old son so that is encouraging for a mom that is kicking and screaming with dread as they get older (LOL!).
I am so glad that I'm getting to know you and you're a member of my OH Group. I enjoy your posts.
Thanks!! Cathy

Honestly, I'm having a little bit of a difficulty with it. I seriously don't know how 13 years have passed. I remember dropping him off at preschool for his first day like it was last week. So many things seem so fresh and like they were yesterday when, in fact, they were years ago.
I know this is part of the parenting thing. For us, time goes by so quickly; for kids, it drags.
I wish I'd enjoyed and been a little more present rather than caught up in the day-to-day grind. This turning 13 teenager thing has shown me to value each day even more than I have before.
Cathy, mom of an almost teenager!
