Topic: new to group but had to share my ah ha moment!
My ah ha momen happened when my family and i were shopping yesterday. i decided to try on an xl size shirt just for laughs not thinking it would fit. to my surprise it did! granted it was a little snug on the bottom, but when i looked in the fitting room mirror it was like i saw myself for the first time.. i couldnt believe it!
Topic: Turn back time.....
I wish I could rewind time. A couple of things have coincided to make me wish I could rewind time.
My sons' birthdays are coming up within the next week. Although they are three years apart, their actual birth dates are six days apart. My older son will be 15 years old (learner's permit to drive??!!!) I cannot believe he is 15. When I look at him, I still see this baby, toddler and at his oldest, third grade. We are very close. Both of my sons are the joys of my life.
A couple of days ago, a friend of mine sent me some photos she had when he was in third grade. I cried. I seriously cried. The feelings of "where has the time gone" flooded over me.
I have spent so much of my life, my every single days, worrying about...thinking about...stressing about...downright preoccupied with food and my weight. I've missed out on so much in my life due to what I did or didn't weigh.
When I eat on track, I am so much more present, and in the here and now. I pay attention to things that I otherwise miss out on thinking about what I want to eat, need to eat, what I weight, blah, blah, blah. To anyone else, this sounds crazy. Since having WLS, this has changed to a large part. There are still times that the voice of head hunger screams so loud in my head that I don't become preoccupied - it happens. However, I am much more aware of time - time spent with my wonderful husband and sons, my special friends, and things I love to do.
It is important to me to live without regrets. I believe I am much, much more aware of how time passes and the importance of treasuring my time with those I love and things I love. That isn't to say that I wouldn't love to rewind time to those days when my sons were younger - I would. All of my experiences - both good and not so good - have made me who I am today. I have learned the lesson of treasuring my time - every single day. It isn't just a day but a treasured time to be with those I love, do the things I love, to live the very best life that I can. For today, be a little less focused on what you weigh or don't weigh, what you want to eat versus what you need to eat - do something today just for you. With you, I do that every day for myself. It is as little as giving extra hugs or spending a few extra minutes hanging out with my sons and husband or talking with a special friend, taking a walk not to burn calories but for some "ME" time.
Treasure what matters the most to you!

I really like that. There are many subjects there that cover my life right now!
Thanks for sharing. Each day is a blessing from God and sometimes we forget that.
Topic: Don't Quit!!
I've kept this poem for a long time. I saw it a couple of years ago and it has given me lots of motivation and inspiration. I talked with a someone recently that was frustrated with a weight regain and I shared it with her. She loved it so I wanted to share here too:
When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill.
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile but you have to sigh.
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns.
And many a fellow turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out.
Don't give up though the pace seems slow,
You may succeed with another blow.
Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man.
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor's cup.
And he learned too late when the night came down,
How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out,
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt.
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems afar.
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit,
It's when things seem worst that you mustn't quit.
And that's worth thinking about.

Topic: Where does the time go????
Hi LWFL Friends,
Wow, where does the time go?? I've been busy doing good things so I am so happy to be back posting with all of you.
I took some time off with my family, expanded my job responsibilities with OH, kids out of school (ARGH!!!!! ) and very exciting news - I am now a PCC (Professional Certified Coach) with the International Coach Federation (the ASMBS equivalent in coaching)!! I had to write numerous papers such as a longitudinal case study to even qualify to take my oral exam. After writing my long and numerous papers, I qualified to take my oral. I took my oral exam and passed! I am so excited. The PCC accreditation is the ultimate goal for a coach.
I'm happy to be back with everyone here. I've missed you!

Hello all and happy summer!
A quick update on how I'm doing. Six weeks since I began and I'm down 25 pounds!! I have alot to go but am totally ready for surgery and am only waiting for the call to say "let's go". I'm doing so well and trying hard to stick with this because I know this will be the way I need to eat for life.
Thanks for the encouragement.

I hope this finds each of you knowing in your heart that there is a better path for each of us to walk down and not to fear what lurkes in dark corners because it all comes to the light of day and we are not now who we were way back when.
Let yourself be your own personal warrior and not food. The idea of food is the great deciever, nothing can protect us from anything or comfort us from pain like we can.
It just takes the ability to admitt we are food junkies, the initiative to take the first step towards change and the fortitude to make the change stick...for the sake of ourselves!
Peace~
