I am taking off tomorrow with my family for my birthday. I'm very excited!!
I'm excited to have some family time. It is supposed to be a nice day (as in no snow, sleet, ice or rain). My husband took the day off, the boys are out of school so we're going somewhere for a long day get-away. WOO HOO!
What's up with everyone??

I had a great, great weekend. We didn't "do" anything like go to an amusement park or go on vacation. We stayed at home, the weather was bad so the boys had to stay at home.
As a family, we watched movies - together! My older son is really into Taekwondo and the next level is to get his black belt. We watched Karate Kid and both of my sons loved it. I'd seen it years ago bu****ching it again and with them was very special. We watched another movie about an Olympic skier that was paralyzed (part 1 and part 2 of the movie) and reinvented herself and created a wonderful life for herself. We watched a couple of others. Being together and watching the inspirational movies that we did was a very special thing for me. My heart is so full!!
Interesting thing - sometimes the unstructured time of the weekends are difficult with food choices. However, being together with my family as we were created no head hunger. Hmmm! Not that I needed validation that I am an emotional (usually bored) eater, this weekend showed me a lot. We spend lots of time together but usually running errands, doing things, but it was different this weekend. I loved it!!

Hi Lisa,
Thanks for being part of my OH Group. I enjoyed reading your post.
As far as your weight loss, the weight loss rate is so different for everyone. If you are concerned, give your dietician a call to discuss it further. He/She can review what you've been eating and activity.
I checked into the Jenny McCarthy (Shape) program for Wii. I was ready to get it but I read some reviews on it. The reviews weren't all that great. Many of them discussed that it wasn't really accurate so I didn't buy it. I have Wii Fit Plus and LOVE, LOVE it. There are tons of different "games" that are strength training, yoga, aerobics and balance. My favorite is Step Advanced and it is so much fun yet a workout. I have increased the workout by getting a riser for the balance board.
I look forward to getting to know you even better.

Hi Everyone,
I am Lisa and I had a RNY procedure done on February 2nd. I haven't posted much because I just haven't felt really like myself. However, I am starting to feel more social and ready to chat about these huge changes in my life.
I am losing weight since surgery, but it's slow ~ only about 3 lbs a week. Is that normal? Has anyone experienced this only 6 weeks out from surgery? I lost about 18 lbs pre-op, and about 23 lbs post-op. I didn't concentrate on getting the amount of protein I was told to get (65-75gm daily****il I was past a month post-op. Although I'm doing really good now with it (even if some of doesn't taste so good).
I also didn't think about exercise over the last 6 weeks while I was recovering, but I am getting ready to start a plan this week. I have the big bouncy ball (I think I'm supposed to sit on) and a stationary bike. I like to walk with friends, but I walk a lot at work so I wanted to change up the exercise a bit. I was curious about that Jenny McCarthy Web Cam exercise program that scans your body and how you move to make sure you are moving right....Does anyone have this to give me some feedback?
Oh, and by the way, I work third shift so my responses and posts may be at odd times. I hope that is okay with everyone, and thanks for reading!!

Topic: RE: I am a new member.
I have never been a raging beauty, not even when I weighed 112 and had a 21inch waist. So gaining weight never bothered me. I was in a marriage to a morbidly obese man for 33years, 8months and 20days. I tried to fit in his world at the cost of my health. I know that to some people beauty is very important. I have always believed that if you are healthy, you smile more because you feel good. What person who smiles isn't pretty? Health and beauty go hand and hand. I am not going to have surgery to remove my arm flaps or my saggy tummy due to other reasons such as cost. But in any case I can now chase my kids around the zoo.
Topic: RE: Your favorite protein shakes??
Itis not 100%, but very close, that after surgery there is some food you liked before that you cannot even think about without gagging afterwards.
I have been taught that over 30g or protein at one time cannot be utilized by the body. Have never heard a sugar amount. Of course, it goes without saying that we want low carb. Although research shows our brain needs an adequate amount of carbs to function normally. (On a day when I'm acting like a "space cadet", I joke and say I'm carb-deficient that day LOL)
My favorite protein powder is Unjury. Can be ordered on line. Though what one person likes, another does not and there are a gazillion million choices. Is there a support group in your area? Talk with as many bariatric patients (regardless of the procedure) and see what is a popular protein which is available in your area - or that they like well enough to order on line. Perhaps they would share one serving with you.
I wish you well
