Eating Unconsciously
I ate something sorta junky, sorta snacky the other day. It was the strangest thing so I wanted to share it.
I made my questionable healthy food choice, ate it and a little bit later noticed the wrapper. Seeing the wrapper really stopped me in my tracks..."WHEN did I eat that?" I knew I picked it to eat it but I didn't remember actually eating it. The television was going, I had my laptop in my lap, my family was home and before I knew it that food choice went from a choice to an eaten without any recollection of eating it. Absolutely scarry. That is eating completely unconsciously. Too bad even though we may eat unconsciously that the calories don't go away unconsciously! LOL!
It was a real awareness for me so it was a good lesson. When I eat, I need to focus on what I'm doing. If I'm going to eat it, at least be present for the experience!!! Also, when I make healthy food choices I tend to be more present and stay with the eating experience.
Just from that experience, I'm much more aware of eating when I ea****ching television, talking to my family and working on my laptop can be multi-tasked but eating is not.
