Lose Weight Find Life
The Biggest Loser as a way for motivation!
As many of you, I love the Biggest Loser television show. I have a couple of friends that give me grief for being a fan.
The reason that I love it so much is watching people struggle with morbid obesity and changing their lives. The transformations the contestants go through are similar to the transformations we experience as a result of our surgery. True, it is in a different form and in front of millions of viewers but they change their lives, just as we do from our surgery.
This weekend, I was needing an extra jolt of motivation. I tape episodes of Biggest Loser for "those" days. I took note of why I was feeling low. It was due to my pitty party of my herniated disc situation and not knowing what to do yet wanting to do something. It is hard to be so limited in your life when you've come to embrace a lifestyle that includes doing things with your family without pain.
I watched a few episodes this weekend and they put me back into the mindset of health. I can remember those days of being morbidly obese and food controlling my life, just as they have when they begin. As the series continues, you see the changes that happen and how they regain their lives.
I know it is a controversial format for many people. What I love about the Biggest Loser is the people that are morbidly obese and want to change their lives....and do it! It is a reminder of what I've accomplished and what goes on every single day in the lives of all of us as wls patients.
