I am so excited for you.  Running was a goal of mine but now with my knee and foot messed up I don't know if it can become a reality.  But, I haven't given up yet. I will definately check out the website.

Topic: Starting to get good dr's reports

Last month due to a scare with my pulse dropping, I had to go to the cardiologist for several tests.  They all turned out ok and as a result the dr. said I could stop my 2 fluid pills and just monitor myself.  Last week, I went to a kidney dr.  He said the only problem I had was my iron level.  (It is still low though I am taking s large dose of iron daily, so please send any suggestions.)  I don't have to go back for 18 months.  Today, I went to the diabetes dr.  My A1C was 5.1.  He pretty much took me off of insulin and in the next couple of weeks, I can start reducing my oral meds.  Yippee!!!

Topic: My first 5K
I was reading blogs of different people on obesityhelp.com and I read one about a guy who lost tons of weight and started running - 5K, 1/2 marathons, marathons, and even an Iron man. The more I thought about the more I wanted to try. I am still over 200 pounds. Running isn't easy but I am trying.  Some friends on Facebook gave me a website to help me get started. I wanted to share that with anyone here who would be interested. They have a link on Facebook where people share ideas about what is working and what is not, what hurts and what shouldn't. The website is www.coolrunning.com The program is called Couch-to-5K (C25K) It is a pretty good workout. I started yesterday. My body isn't giving me any love today but I feel good about myself. If you are interested in working through the program and want a support buddy let me know. Also if anyone lives in Maryland and wants to do a 5K in Fredrick, Md on Oct 16 for St. Jude's let me know! I feel good having a goal. Have you set any new goals lately?

I had the band in 2003. I had a revision to the sleeve in 2010. Back in 2003 I was afraid to go to the gym. I didn't want people to laugh at me. I had no clue how to work any of the machines and I didn't want some sexy 20 year old showing me either (while making fun of me in his/her head).

At that time in my life I was teaching high school. I had a bunch of the football team in my math class. They took me on as a project. The coach (who is a family friend) helped them with a program and each week one of them and the coach would go with me to the gym to try something new on me. At first I cried every day because being almost 400 pounds it wan't easy and I knew people were making fun of me by the way they looked at me. As the weeks went by it got easier and easier. I moved to Maryland three years ago. Now I am giving advice at the gym to frustrated women who look like they feel out of place.

Topic: RE: A small NSV for me

Molly,

Good for you, and keep it up. Thank goodness for those NSVs.  I had a similiar experience this past weekend.   I wore a dress that I haven't worn in 7 or 8 years.  The dress is still in style and I felt better in it this time then when I orginally bought the dress.  Those NSV are very very motivating.

I am also losing mostly inches from the weight training and cardio.  I have recently had a set of setbacks  w/ my lower back going out on me and this past weekend my hip. It  felt like I wa****  by a 2x4.  It is feeling much better today since I met my new friend over the weekend, Mr. BEN GAY .  I plan to start working out w/trainer later in the week for about 5 weeks.  I need to go to the next level.

Lets continue to motivate each other!!!

MANY of us go to the gym or to Curves ,
Can you tell me what was your worse experince at te gym .

As for me ... I was weighing about 300 pounda l I had already lost 50 and was so excited . I got to the gym and startd looking around at all the skinny girls.  I felt so inadequate.
So ... I went down to the pool and in front of all these soldiers I jumped in and began my water walking . I felt their eyes on me and I could only imagine what they where looking at , My fat was jiggling , my sking was sagging ..l. I was just plain embarrassedl

I decided from that day forward that no one would stop me from working out ,,, and I decided that If I caught them looing I was going to stop them dead in their track = and tell them my WOW MOMNENTS AND HOW WLS SAVED MY LIFE ...

What about you ,, any good , or bad moments at the gym >

Hugs.
