SparkPeople's Interpretation
Do you ever get frustrated because things are going too slow in your life? Many people don’t realize that building a Foundation that will lead to success does not happen overnight. It is a slow process in which you are constantly building and learning. It is extremely important to create a Foundation that will remain strong even in times of failure or crisis. This takes time! You may have to remind yourself that failing is only failure if you quit…otherwise it is a learning opportunity. So, don’t worry if your life seems to be in slow motion. Concentrate on building a solid foundation and learning from your steps back.

Topic: RE: NEW GROUP MEMBERS .. TALK TO ME
Hi. I am also in the beginning stages. I am on my third month of the required supervised weight loss program. I have had two visits with the surgeon. He has recommended the bypass rather than the sleeve or band. I have hopes and fears about the process like anyone, I might imagine. I am hopeful that I will have great success and fearful of losing my hair and having super baggy skin (although my insurance does cover reconstructive surgery). So, that's where I'm at. Hello!

Hey there! I'm a newbie!! I'm still in the getting-started phase. Referral submitted and approved, the stuff insurance requires has been submitted and I'm waiting for the go-ahead. I've submitted a patient profile/health history so I can be put in the surgery center's computer system. Now I just wait :P I'm very anxious!! Hoping for an RNY in June maybe? Topic: PRIORITIES AND WHERE ARE YOU ?

On the Journey

PRIORITIES AND WHERE ARE

YOU?

All of us have 1,440 minutes in a day. By

multi-tasking, you jam pack those 1,440

minutes. 1,440 minutes is a lot of time – how

do you spend those minutes? From all of that

time, how many of those minutes do you spend

on yourself? We do so much for so many

people in our lives that we forget or are too

busy to spend any time for ourselves. If you

want to know what you value in each day, take

a hard look at how you spend your 1,440

minutes.

We schedule appointments, meetings and other

commitments for ourselves and our time every

day. We have endless To Do lists. Look at

your schedule and your To Do lists, where are

you? When we have a scheduled meeting or a

doctor appointment, it is a priority. We make

sure to carve out time in our schedule. On our

(endless?) To Do lists, we pay attention to

those items and check them off when

completed. Check out your schedule and To

Do list, where are you?

Conduct a time study of how you spend your

time. Record what you do every 15-30 minutes

every day for a period of a week. Do you think

that you don’t have time to exercise or prepare

healthy meals, yet you spend four hours every

nigh****ching mindless television?

Here are some helpful tips to put YOU on YOUR

list:

6 How does your day empower your health?

7 Are you too busy to regularly exercise or

create activity in your life?

7 Do you give your time and energies to so

many other people in your life that you don’t a

reserve of time for yourself?

7 Is it faster to eat from a drive-thru or

prepare a healthy meal?

As you review your schedule and To Do List,

where is your commitment to your healthy

lifestyle? How do you honor your commitment

to a healthy lifestyle on a regular basis?

Hi,
I am new too, surgery scheduled 5/11/12. I have been trying a bunch of protein drinks to get ready for surgery. My favorites so far are the Costco Advantage(Chocolate,Vanilla), Unjury Powder(Unflavored, Chocolate, Vanilla) and Muscle Milk Lite. My nutritionist gave me some PB2 powder which is awesome in a chocolate shake with 1/2 a banana. The Unflavored Unjury is also good in soup or broth but it can't be too warm and it does change the color/consistency some. Hopefully they will still taste good to me post op.

Great advice!  It is not always easy to put yourself first, but you truly see the benefits when you do. The "balance"'of self, family and work is essential for success.  Now I just need to keep this in mind!
