Happy New Year,
I'm sorry you had to deal with this. Some people just can't deal with others seeking to be healthy. Stand your ground. If need be limit the time you spend with this kind of person.
Celebrate every good decision you make.
Hugs~

Congratulations Michelle,
I'm so excited for you. This journey is amazing.
I'll never forgot the time I shopped in the "regular" woman's clothes area. I still am amazed every time.
Celebrate every step on this journey.
Hugs~

Topic: Exercise...gym or Wii Fit?
I am ready to start exercising so that my "jiggly" legs can get toned and the same for my arms. As I start to lose weight I want to be sure that I don't get "flabby", but become shapely with my weight loss.
I'm torn between joining a gym or getting a Wii Fit. I enjoy walking, but it is getting very cold here.
Any ideas.

Topic: Salads...when can I eat?
Hi Group,
I am 3 weeks post-op and on soft/puree diet. Right now i can't have rough vegetables only cooked.
Any idea when I can start to add lettuce to my food intake. I would love to eat a grilled chicken salad?

Topic: Food pushers
To spend time with my dad this Christmas, I had to spend time with his wife, too. She is a major food pusher. Fortunately I had to spend time with only one of the food pushers in my life, because I couldn't have taken any more. She was more than enough!
First she tells me how great I look, which is followed quickly with the 'but don't lose anymore' speech. Blah, blah, blah... On the first day of Christmas, after explaining to her that I don't eat sugar anymore, she preceded to offer me five different kinds of cookies, pumpkin pie, scones, bear claws, ice cream and hot chocolate. No, I'm not exaggerating and no, she wasn't just trying to be polite.
On the second day of Christmas, she again offered me all these. When that failed, she tried guilting me into eating her leftover apple slices! She was too full for them and she just couldn't throw them out because that's not how she was raised. For an hour she droned on about these apple slices. At dinner she tried to get me to finish her salad. It was all I could do not to smack her. What do you do with people like this?
Other than that, Christmas and New Year were great. I hope your holidays went well also.

Topic: The Little Black Dress
So it's been forever since I have posted something and recently I realized I'm 6 months post op - HOLY CRAP!! While things have been crazy, trying to recoup from the complications and figuring out this new body of mine - I've had some interesting mile stones.
#1 - The Little Black Dress
I was able to shop with my friend, in the same store, in the "normal" section. I cried. It was the strangest thing ever. Never before have I ever shopped "with" my friend. We always went to her stores and then to my plus size stores. Added to this, I have never, ever worn a short dress. And heels? Please! So I found myself out shopping for our staff Christmas party, I'm a size 16 now (used to be a 26+) and not only did I buy a cute little black dress, but high heels. I was dressed like a woman. I felt so sexy (although no one told me how cold winter winds could be in a short dress LOL). If you want to see the picture, check out my pictures.
#2 - Skating
It turns out I LOVE to skate. I'm not particularly great at it, but OMG it is so much fun. This new found freedom was given to me through my weight loss. I have gained more confidence, stability and flexibility. Again, my pics LOL. I am becoming a real enthusiast of physical exercise. Go figure.
I am so blessed in my life and can't wait for this new year to unfold. I am starting my training to run a marathon this year. I am so stoked. I am going to go sky diving this summer too. I plan on fully living my life with everything I have. No excuses, no regrets and with total love and joy. I hope everyone has an amazing 2011!
Lots of love,
Michelle

Topic: RE: WELCOME TO OUR FIRST NEW MEMBER OF 2011
Hi Jen,
I'm so glad you've found us at Life Starts. I pray you feel welcomed and supported.
You are on an amazing journey. You are not alone in this walk, I know that you know God is there with you but so are we. I understand so much of where you are. I have been there. I had RNY 12-21-09. I just celebrated my 1 year mark. RNY was the best thing I've done for myself. It has been hard at times but very worth it. My diabetes is in remission, sleep apnea better and I feel better than I have in a very long time.
I'm praying for you~
Hugs
Annie
