I am almost 6 months out from my surgery and I NEVER feel full.  I have a hard time because my stomache feels hungry.  What do others do about this?  I am also missing the crunchy stuff..chips, crackers and the like.  What to substitute?

Molly ,

I totally understand where you are coming from . I too suffer terribly from still hearing that Obese person in my head . For example .. we have a grocery store here called Wegmans .. it is a food mega store . There are so many sample tables there ... and I am so tempted to try everything .
I am a sugar girl .. candy girl .. I love candy .. candy bars .. etc ... and I struggle so hard sometimes with this . So I have learned to count to 30 , hold my breath and walk away . I also when I want something sweet turn to my protein bars .

I am also a big Chip eater .. I love me some cheetos .. so I learned to make my own . I just cook up some 2 % cheese on the stove , let it get crispy ... and wala !! I have some cheesy crispy things .

Best to you always and I so appreciate your support .

Hugs to you too !

Hello Tink,

The question is what don't I struggle with.  I am struggling with food addiction and I am doing many things to stay on top of it.  I started going back to support groups regularly each month.  I track my food daily and I weigh daily so I am aware of my actions if I do start to binge.

Thanks for you continued support and I hope all is well with you dear!

Have a good weekend!

Hugs,
Molly

Take control.

Are you in control of your life or does addiction, in one form or another, control you? When you are in control, you can decide to stop an unwanted behavior, and there is little consequence. It's a simple decision.

If you have trouble stopping your behavior, and you can't seem to get it out of your mind, you may be facing an addiction. You may find yourself obsessing, or even suffering withdrawal symptoms (such as nervousness, sweating, or excessive anxiety). When you experience withdrawal, you have crossed a line. You are not in control anymore. If you get to that point, you must seek out help.

Action for the day: Evaluate if you are obsessing about something. Decide who will be in control--you or your obsession. If you need help, get it.

Topic: STRUGGLES - WHAT IS YOURS ?

Most of us know that WLS no matter what kind is not the cure all . You have to work at it just like you do any diet or exercise program.
We all have struggles .
What is your biggest struggle ? Have you learned to overcome it ?

For me , my struggle is finding a good exercise program ,
I tend to stick to the same things ... so I have been changing up my program and it has began to work .
After the removal of my stalistic band , I find it easier for food to go down easier . So I am keeping to my WLS rules . Even after 7 years ... I still stick to all the rules .

So ... what is your current struggle if any ,?... please share how you overcame it .. and if not possibly we can all work together to get answers.

Have a great day !

Strike back.

Decadent desserts grace the covers of magazines in the checkout lane, not to mention the array of candy displayed there. Everything is super-sized, and tantalizing smells fill the air. We are encouraged to eat seconds, and how can we pass on dessert? And what about the well-meaning person who declares, "One bite won't hurt."

Yes, it will! The world will try to sabotage your efforts. From the spouse that leaves food lying around the house to the person pushing samples at the grocery store, you are under attack. Your armor is your resolve, and your mouth is your sword. When the saboteur strikes, strike back with these powerful words: "No, thank you."

Action for the day: Develop a strategy to deal with the abundance of food surrounding you--write it down in your journal. Make some guidelines by which you can sustain your new life. Review them often.
