Thanks for the 411!  It is a scary thought but I will continue to work now and in the future.

Your WLS is a tool.  So it is good you were in on that meeting to see re-gain is very real but it does not have to be you either.  50 percent of WLS patients gain back 50 percent of their weight in 5 years.  How this falls out depends entirely on you.

To prevent regain you just need to always work at it.  The sooner the better.  Don't go back to old habits and believe it will not be you.  Don't get over confident and ****y.  Once honeymoon is over you get become laid back and old habits creep back in.  No more dumping, stop exercising as much.  You don't realize that is is going to be a lot of effort and hard work for life to keep the pounds you lost off.

Believe you can do it because 80% or more keep off 60 to 80% of their lost weight and those averages are great.  The reason you heard many of us regainers on the teleconference last month is because we are not quitting and looking for support.  So in the big picture we were only a few or the minority.  I do believe many who gain do not seek out support to get back on track.  So IF you find yourself slipping or gaining make sure you seek out support as we have done.  Good job on being proactive.

Hi Everyone!!

My name is Stacie and I am excited to be here. I am in the beginning stages of WLS, but am so happy to know that it is all happening.

I am a 34yo Wife & Mom. I have a wonderful husband and 2 great boys.

I decided on WLS many years ago, but never had the insurance to do it. Well now I do and I am so thrilled. I am doing it for me and my quality of life.

I am happy to know that this website is here for me to learn, get to know the great people that are here, and most of all be able to shae my journey as well as support others on their's.

Have a GREAT day!

Topic: GROWING BY LEAPS AND BOUNDS !
Just about every day I receive request for new members. I am so pleased to see us grow , but I am concerned that there are a few that only post. I would love to see more activity. I know we all lead busy lives…I just yearn for more participation. Is there anything that you all as a group need from me ? Are there topics in which you would like to discuss ? I have so much I can offer the group as far as information and resources. I want to be an effective leader and give to you all what you need or want to assist you in your journey. Weight loss surgery, no matter what type has a great need for support. The reason I wanted to be a leader was not to have a title … it was to help others and lead people when I can, to inspire when I can … to cry with you if you need it ..to laugh with you , and to celebrate all that is YOU ! Whatever I can do for you … I will do my best to assist. This weekend I leave to go on a cruise to celebrate a dear friend of mine who was my inspiration to have weight loss surgery. She is celebrating her wedding anniversary. I hope that while I am away , that you all will take over and continue to hold the group together , to continue to inspire one another and to keep the board alive. While this year has been one for me filled with illness. I am thankful that finally I can put this behind me and have healed. I am feeling like a million bucks and grateful for having my health back. In closing I would like to welcome our new members ! LifeStarts would not be all that it is with out You. Take care and remember .. to always believe !   Tink

Thanks!  It has been working very good so far!  I have lost 4 pounds this week!  So I am going to keep it up and was not feeling deprived either.

Topic: 5 year mark and weight gain...
I am only 5 weeks out and I happen to jump on a WLS support group teleconference.  I was struck by the amount of people on who had gained large amounts of weight back at the 5 year mark.  I am a long way from 5 years but it is disconcerting to know that this is a possiblility.  What is it with the 5 year mark and how can I-as a newbie, prepare myself to prevent weight gain at the 5 year mark?
