Motivational Quote - Most barriers to your success are man-made. And most often, you’re the man who made them.
SparkPeople Translation

What are you trying to accomplish? Are you trying to stick to a fitness plan so that you will look great this summer? Are you trying to improve a relationship with a friend or loved on? Are you trying to eliminate fast food from your diet? Whatever you are trying to do, think about a time when you’ve allowed yourself to think, “I can’t!" Why did this happen? Most of the time, it is because of a barrier that you yourself created. It is completely natural for you to have this reaction in life. For most of us, when things get tough or when we start to fail, we try to find ways to justify our actions instead of trying to find ways to get over the hurdle. This is a barrier…and this is something most of us could work on. This week, really try to eliminate the hurdles and barriers you’ve created. One of the most common barriers we tend to create is lack of time. If you find yourself saying, “I can’t, I don’t have time!" take a second and analyze your goal. Is this something you really want to accomplish? If so, MAKE THE TIME! Get up a little earlier. Stay at home one night instead of going out. Find time for you and your goals.

May I be the second to thank Steve for being such a wonderful friend and strong shoulder to lean on when struggling along the way.  Words can't express the gratitude I have for him.  He was there for me when I was facing band removal and when my RNY went sour, he was there when I needed to reach out.  He was there when I needed cheering up!  Thank you Steve!!

We love you Steve!!!

I want to learn what I can about you guys and gals.

How is your journey going ? I am stuck and very depressed I still have about 30 pounds until my goal. I lost my job January 7th and have fallen into a very huge funk I know its wrong for me and I tell myself all the time to get it together but then for some reason I can talk myself into something else. I have not had any support other than my immediate family and OH. I dont have a dr close that will see me been to them and they refuse to take me on as a patient. my surgeon is 5 hours away so I dont see him as often as I would like. and i dont have a dietician.

Are there anyone with struggles . yep  me I deal with pain they are not sure why ive done massive amounts of tests and now its exploritory surgery that will take place 5hrs from home and i have little kids at home. my surgeon told me that since i had as many complications with my first 3 surgeries that he would have to do the exploritory open and i am not ready for that and Im not sure when i will be. I almost died and it took along time to feel good and i dont want to go back there again.

What as a group can we do to help you . keep me positive and let me know im not alone. share there stories of challenges and accomplishments.

What is your one main goal ? to feel good about myself some days i do and some not so much. i have come along way but my head is still far behind.

What are you doing to achieve this goal . at this point im struggling i try to eat right  i am not moving my butt like i should. actually i have worked out for about a month in almost 2 yrs. i wish i had friends to walk with.

Topic: RE: ARE YOU IN DENIAL ?
Yeah... I would say I falter here.  I got a bag of dark chocolate and say, I can have a piece or two as a dessert before bed.  So what do I do... I handle the chocolate fine.  I got the Hershey's Special Dark Eggs.  I would have 2-4 of them (rather small) and I didn't feel guilty about it.  But then I got to thinking.  I could buy a box of Little Debbie Ho Ho's.  Um yeah... :headbang:  What a dumbass.  I also thought, maybe I could tolerate cereal since I can't take a B-complex... I thought a good fortified cereal... nope... trigger food for me.  I'll eat 2 cups of cereal!  One thing that ****** me off about this surgery (RNY) is that I am always so damned hungry.  It doesnt' matter what kinds of food I eat, how often I eat, etc.  I have done the high protein low carb thing and that didn't help the hunger.  My doctors are talking about an appetite suppressant because I am so gosh darn hungry, I can't control it.  And with the chocolate... I am fortunate that I am not hooked on chocolate, but that darn Little Debbie!  I am fine when I don't bring her home... I just eat too much food in general.

Boy... I have a lot of issues huh?:hmm:

Topic: Live to Eat ... or Eat to Live .. That is the Question..

For many years I Lived to Eat .. I was so addicted to food . At times I could not go out unless I stopped at a Fast food place. Even if I was not hungry , I always managed to find something to shove in my face .

So , in saying that .. Do you now eat to live .. ?
Do you plan your meals ?
How do you manage your shopping now for groceries ?
Do you make an menu , or meal plan?
Do you weigh you food ?
Do you use any of the on line tools to track your food intake for the day , and if so what do you use ?

Please share with us today .. I am anxious to see how we all plan our days .

Thanks,

Tink

Topic: VA WLS-LIFESTARTS PERSON OF THE MONTH

For the month of March I am proud to announce that Steve Whitmer is our featured Person of the Month.

I met Steve in January, 2005. He was attending my WLS Conference . The Snow Ball .
I remember seeing this very tall handsome man , who I so wanted to dance with . But for some reason I did not have the courage to do so . And for the first time , I am admitting here , and Kristen knows this already .. so this is not new to her ...
I had a terrible crush on him .  But that inner person of mine was to scared to talk to him .. for fear he would think I was ugly and not his type .
I feel we did become friends after that and have remained friends since .

Steve is a man that I think everyone would want in their circle . He has always been upfront, honest and always encouraging.
When I was in the hospital sick , he sent me flowers and candy . He always has encouraging words for me .

In Atlanta , I was so excited to see him . He was the first person that I seen as I walked through the doors to the pool . He picked me up , I straddled him with my legs and kissed and hugged on him . It felt really good to see him again . And we had a great time .
I am pleased now to know that he and Kristen are together . One of my closest BFF's and Steve .. what more could you ask for .
I wish him and Kristen nothing but pure sweet love , as they continue on with their relationship.

Steve's weight loss journey is very inspiring . I hope that you all take time to go to the site
(
www.vawlsevents.com ) and check it out .

Steve has been a member here on SBAAWLS for at least 5 years , and has proven to be someone who cares about this board and is someone as I said .. to have in your circle .

Thank you Steve for always being a good true friend to me . I love you dearly ! And I wish you nothing but the very best in your life today and for always,

Always,
Your .. Tink !!

Topic: Crawling Out of Our Shells ...
As time went on in my weight loss , I often looked in the mirror not seeing the person standing in front of me . Even with the drastic weight loss , I still felt fat and ugly . It was a day like any other day , I was getting ready for work , and I was looking into the mirror . I had a feeling of warmth come over my body and tears began to flow .
It was at that moment , I had truly seen who I was and just how far I had come . I remember looking into the mirror and saying to myself, YOU HAVE DONE IT !!

At that point , I seen ME .. I seen the beauty and the grace that I was creating with this new body and new habits .
From that day forward I was able to feel comfortable in my new skin. My head was held higher and I refused to except anything but positive about me from others around me . You can think negative all you want , but I was surely not going to take abuses any longer . Not from my own brain or anyone Else's .

How are you today in your skin . Have you crawled out of your shell yet ? Are you looking for a way out ?

You need to see the beauty in who you are . You need to give yourself credit and respect for taking on the fight against Obesity . Love who you are , and let nothing stand in your way of
Crawling out of Your Shell ,

Love to everyone .. Believe in You ... and Stay True ,

Tink
