Tink - Thanks for this. It's a difficult subject that goes very deep into who we are and why we are like we are. I was fortunate to have a very, very supportive family growing up (and still do!!). even having this "advantage" I still had difficulty accepting compliments and seeing any "beauty" whatsoever when I saw myself.

It has gotten easier - only because I've let go of preconceived notions and learned to accept myself - flaws and all. When an old friend tells me that they're proud of me and that I look wonderful - I believe them. I don't feel the need to say "thanks ..BUT (I'm a long way from goal / you should see the hanging skin / You know I had surgery..etc)"  I can simply and graciously say "Thank You".

Positive affirmations are wonderful.

Thanks again - I know this takes a great deal of your time and I for one appreciate it.

Bett Midler said it best .. I am BEAUTIFUL DAMN IT ...
If you have never heard the song ,I challenge you to google the lyrics .. it is very inspiring to me.
For years I walked around feeling less than pretty .
How many of us have or still feel less than beautiful ?

As we go thru our journeys , it is so important to learn to love ourselves. To forget the lies that where told to us . Coming from an abusive childhood, this has taken me so many years .. years of heartache, failed marriages and relationships. I have since learned that I have value , I have worth .. and that nothing is going to stop me from being the best that I can be .

When I begin to hear those lies crop up in my head .. I immediately arm myself with positive affirmations .. and I remember who I am .. all that I have struggled to be  .

Are you hearing those voices still today ? Are you hurting inside from this?
I know for me talking to my pastor and getting counseling helped me so very much. It also helps to have a good support system .

Ladies and Gentlemen .. we only get one life on this earth .. short timers we all are .
Do not let anyone tear your down , take away your beauty and your grace.
Start today to fight back .

My challenge for you today is to list those lies you hear in your head about who you are .
Then I want you to write the positive affirmations under it .
Here is an example ..

YOU ARE NOTHING BUT A FAT UGLY WOMEN ..
TELL THE LIE THIS !

I AM A BEAUTIFUL WOMEN INSIDE AND OUT - AND NO ONE TAKES THAT FROM ME .

If you start speaking this , and learning to love who you are today .. giving yourself praise for all you have done and where you have come from .. the lies will go away . If it goes deeper than this , please seek professional help.
You matter , and You are important .. don't waste these days on earth .. with those lies ..

Happy Thursday !

HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH SET BACKS....

Many of us come to a point in the road where we experience a setback... we work hard .. push on .. and all of a sudden something comes along to upset the apple cart ...

Do you spin out of control .. do you steer toward a solution ?

Take time to access the situation.
Look at how you can get yourself back up and going again.
Nothing is ever as bad as it seems .. .just pick yourself up and start over ...

What can you do today to help you avoid setbacks ..

Thank you Jennifer for sharing .
I know you will be able to sort through your choices and be able to get things in order .

You have to from this point on , make sure your choices in life are for you . We do want to make others happy to , but we must not lose focus on who we are and what is important in our lives.

Keep this in mind .. We only get 86,400 seconds in one day . What we do with them is very important , we do not get them back , nor can we store them .
So make each day count !!

I am very proud that you are seeing how important you are to YOU !

Hugs,

Natalie

I know I use excuses to avoid the things I really don't want to do. I have spent a lot of time the past few days re-examining things and choices I have made in my life. I am realizing there is no reason to make excuses, I just need to do the things that make my life more fulfilling and to put my energy into the things that make me happy, not what I think will make everyone else happy.

Funny you should post this very topic today. On my ride to work this morning I was mentally making my list of WHY I don't do the things I know I should. Guess what?? They're excuses. To take the power away from them I.m putting them in writing (makes them easier to identify in the future).

#1) I hate being cold - that may be an excuse but then again it may be that I'm just restating the obvious. Because I loathe being cold it makes getting out and walking at the park - less than enjoyable.
#2) Add in the fact that some nights scheduling demands by family members makes it  hard to get to the gym and get dinner done at the same time.
#3) I don't want to do my Wii fit if anyone else is in the room.

So, Today,  I have made an exercise plan:

1) Tuesday evening, Thursday evening & Saturday Morning: I'm going to the gym. On weekday afternoons I'm going straight there from work. I'm keeping the gym bag packed and in my van. My workout time is from 6 til 7:30. Dinner will be either leftovers or something from the crock pot. Saturday mornings will be from 10 til 11:30 (maybe a little earlier) but I'll have time to hit a few yardsales and the thrift stores on my way there and back and still be home before I'm missed.

2) Monday & Friday : If the temp is over 60 I'm walking outside. If the weather isn't cooperating then I'm walking inside at work (DUH?!?!****ep a pair of walking shoes and socks under my desk anyway. It's time to dust them off and get busy again. 30 minutes - no excuses.

3) Wednesday: Wii night. Now that we have mutliple remotes - Let the games begin. It's time for a little "friendly" competetion. I'm sure that in no time I'll be doing the Wii fit and not care if anyone else is in the room or not.

4) Sunday: Sunday is play day. Walks in the park. Walks on the beach. Kickball, soccer and games with the kids. Soon will be swimming and boating so that will keep all of us hopping..

I've made up a copy of this schedule to post on the fridge at home and at David's - my fellas can all help keep me accountable.
