Topic: Hello, I'm new.
Hi,
I just wanted to introduce myself to this board. My name is Iris, I live in Los Angeles, and I'm getting my VSG tomorrow (!). The main thoughts going through my head are:

1: OMG! OMG! OMG! etc
2: I know this is weird, but I am on day two of the clear liquid diet and I feel like I am going through food withdrawel. Is that even possible?

Anyway, I am beyond excidted about the surgery, but also a little frightened. This is just a step, but a big one, and I don't want to screw it up.

Thanks all.

Time is a best teacher so time is a best healer too. No doubt sometimes it feels you will not be able to make it through the suffering and pain. But these are false feelings. We all have the strength in us to withstand against any pain which comes in our way. All we need a little smile, and a lot of self believe, and a believe that in time it will pass too. Just give time the time and you are gonna be all fine. And love yourself and your life just the way it is not as you want to. Best wishes to you all of my dear friends

Sweet Tink,

I notice you live not too far from me.  (I'm Gainesville, used to be Sterling for a bit)  I will be going to the monthly support  group at the Fairfax hospital.  Do you know of any other support groups that are around our area?

I've never been a joiner, but think that is something I need to change to be successful.  I stay at home.  I've only lived here a year so I get kind of isolated and think going to a group with people I have something in common with would be good for me.

Any tips?

I never thought WLS was for me.  I didn't research it and just heard enough to think, "why would people do that?"   I was convinced lots of people were dying on the operating table.

Time marched on and so did the lbs.  I lost 30 only to gain it back.  When I was at WW I really thought I had my head screwed on right.  I didn't.  The bounce back made my health so much worse.

I got tired enough of feeling bad and realized I was scared to try conventional means again only to fail and make my health even worse.

I really got scared enough into it.  I just wanted to feel better physically and I realized this was probably the only path to doing so.

I started researching and saw those stats weren't nearly as scary as I'd thought.  I saw former sweetaholics bursting with energy 10 years out from surgery.  I want some of that.

So in just over two weeks, all going well and no last minute issues, I'll be getting my surgery and starting my fight back to wellness.

Hey.  I'm new too.  I'm from Gainesville, VA and getting surgery done on the 14th Sep.  Sorry you had some issues in the beginning.  I love that you have all that energy now.  I'm looking forward to not feeling so lethargic all the time.

That is some serious weight loss, congrats.  A new job as well.  That is really great, especially in the climate.  Well done you.

Thanks Tink!  The 1st day was good and interesting.  I have to push my old ways and thoughts to the side to give their techniques a chance.  Not sure if I can go by all of the recommendations 100 percent but I will try.

I'm new to the group and I would just like to introduce myself!!

I am Katie and I am 22 years old. I had surgery with Dr Afram in DC on March 15th of this year. I had a lot of things go wrong at the beginning. I had to have my stricture dilated a bunch of times and I had to go back into the hospital several times because of dehydration. It took me almost 4 months not to be nauseous ALL the time!

But now I am feeling better than I ever have in my life. I am down 108 lbs and am eating great. I just got a new job and I have so much energy. This has been the best thing in my life! I am excited to gain the support of this group!!
