Hi Aly! I'm new to this group as well, I had the Lapband done on 12/9/09, and I'm down 42 lbs, and I feel great!  I live in NY, married to my HS sweetheart, he is a NYC fireman and we have 2 boys.  I'm a stay at home mom.

Looking forward to getting to know you !!

Hi

My name is Aly, and I am new to this group.  It's exciting to connect with people working towards the same kind of goals as mine.  My plan is to visit, share, cheer on, and get a little comfort when needed in this group.

Weight loss surgery is something I've been trying to get my insurance to approve for approx. 3 years now.  Finally they came through for me... my RNY Gastric Bypass is this Friday 5/28/10!!!  My family and friends are incredibly supportive which is making me feel like I won't be alone on this journey.  After 20+ years of yo-yo dieting I am ready to take this weight off the right way!

A little about myself... I have an awesome 13 year old son, Elijah, 2 cats (brother and sister), and 1 newly aquired puppy, Ruso.  We all rent a house with my sister who is also my best friend.  We live in a small town in MN, and will be moving into the same town but a house my sister buys this summer.  My 2 brothers and parents make up the rest of our very tight-knit family.

My job is in agricultural insurance (Underwriting), but my passion is in writing.  I have not tried to get published yet; guess I've been afraid to put myself out there.  Currently I am working on a few projects that will hopefully hit a store near you in the future.  I'm working on building up my self-confidence while making other monumentous changes/improvements to my life.

I hope to get to know each of you, and am so greatful that I have been welcomed into your group... thank you so much!!!

Take Care

Molly, I love this- it is so true. I've seen it in myself at times. When we look for beauty we find in some unexpected places.
Thanks with a hug

Practice happiness.
Some people can't forget the past. Others are always looking toward the future but precious few ever focus on "now."

How can a life be lived to the fullest if you are never happy in the moment? Not forgetting where you came from and still planning for your future, you can choose to make the most of the present moment. If you treat each moment with a positive attitude, you will look back upon a satisfying and full life. There is no time like the present to begin being happy.

Action for the day: You can choose to be happy. Today, treat each moment as an opportunity to express your happiness in some way.

Turn a negative into a positive.

Many WLS patients have such a poor self-image they spend their time looking for flaws in those around them: The thin saleswoman has a crooked nose&your rich friend's children are badly behaved...your pretty sister has awful hair.

But consider this: If you do not find the beauty in everything, praise people genuinely for their accomplishments, and wish good will on others, how can you expect to learn to love and accept yourself? When you are a person who always has a kind word, can always see beauty, and is genuinely happy for another's success, then you will see the beauty in yourself. You will know joy.

Action for the day: Today, notice your thoughts and judgments. Whenever you have a critical thought, replace it with a loving thought.
