Hello Tink

How are you? Well I see it is lonely here. Hope you are doing well. I am doing fine. Still did not reach my goal but I have my progress over the last couple of years for sure. Holler back when you have some time.

Hugs, Molly

I've been looking into vsg In Mexico for a while. Dr. Aceves is more than I can afford, but I have read a lot of great stats on him. I have no support either, would be going solo. Good luck

Hi Laura,
I see what you mean. I think about those things too.

Great job getting the weight off, BTW.

Hi,
I too experience similar feelings and see how my eating put me in danger with my health and not being able to control myself. I look at some and I wonder if they suffer like I did before my surgry or if it will change like it's changed for me or if I will ever return to that way of life. Overweight people always brings me great reflection on my condition before my bypass and now and how I need to take care of this gift of a second chance and pray they find their way too

Topic: Feeling distressed about obese people in restaurants
I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen. I have noticed that every since I have gotten a lot of weight off, if I go to a restaurant, I notice all of the obese people and feel really upset for their state of health and distressed over the amounts of food that I see them eating. I think a little bit about their weight problems and what they could do to solve them. I feel very sorry for these people. It is a significant amount of distress (by me) on these people's behalfs.

I have noticed this occurs more at some restaurants that others, mostly were they serve large quanties of food. The worst is an all you can eat spaghetti bar. For example, my husband and I went to Red Robin and I had these feelings.

This is not a feeling that I have at my monthly surgery support group, even through there are a lot of us that still have a long way to go. I am happy for this group of people because they are all significantly improving their health, and therfore their lives. It just takes a long time to get to the goal.

I had this problem before my surgery, in a lesser way. For example, I have always found a lot of all you can eat "bars" somewhat disgusting. It's just too much food.

Maybe this is like before I became pregnant with my daughter, I never noticed pregnant women. But after I became pregnant, it "seemed" like they came out of the woodwork. They were always there. I just didn't notice them until something that happened to me called my attention to them.

I'm not worried about this phenomenon. I'm just curious to know if anyone else expriences it.

I don't know what gastroparesis is, but it sounds terrible. I'm glad that this surgery will help you and that you get there soon. Hang in there.

Topic: hope for gastroparesis
Hi, I'm just dropping in to say hi to all and to let everyone know that there is hope if you are having bypass surgery for gastroparesis after going thru many test I see the surgeon for a follow-up from my EGD that re-affirmed my paresis, I'm in alot of pain with it right now and have a few more test to run before i get a date for the surgery but I want to let everyone know it is so important to ask questions because sometimes the drs. assume you just know and also to really do your research i do and I'm very pleased with hearing alot of the accomplishments of other people I recommend bypass surgery for gastroparesis for it will save you the wait of a cure and also it seems like it might let me have a normal life after 2 years of severe suffering. you don't hear much about this condition but it is mostly caused by diabetes. I'm getting excited ,anyone else have this condition and had bypass surgery would appreciate a reply. Thank you

Topic: Love Today's Quote Of The Day
I really love today's Quote of the Day. "The bad new is that time flies. The good news that you are the pilot."

This quote reminds me that I have to put my weightloss/health first. Until recently, everyone else and everything else came before me. Even my own stuff came before my weightloss. It is really difficult to break that habit, but I am working on it.

Bridget ,

Congratulations on your decision . I am sure you do have a lot to prepare for .

I found this blog for you . I am not familiar with the VSG . But this web site and blog may be helpful to you . http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/

No matter what surgery you have there is always worry . The best thing to do is take it one day at a time . With most WLS .. you may want to begin putting into place an exercise program ... you can look at your diet and start preparing or trying out foods on that list .

Please let us know how things go .. and if you need anything else let me know .

Blessings and Hugs ,

Tink

Topic: Finally decided to go to Mexico for VSG
Hello everyone!  I'm excited yet nervous about a decision I made.  After believing my insurance would pay for WLS and then being denied, then going through the sadness of what the hell else is needed to prove I need this surgery I've decided to pay myself and go to Mexico and have my surgery with Dr. Aceves.

Im nervous because I don't think I'm going to have good support with my parents.  Which is crazy, because they've always supported me.  However, my mom is your standard worry wart. My best friend and her husband have been my greatest support team. Has anyone else had trouble with family supporting them?

Im having the VSG.  Is there anything special I should do before the surgery?  I've got a Pre-op and post op diet to follow but was wondering if anyone that has had the surgery could give me pointers on anything extra to make sure I do.

Thanks for any info.

Bridget
