Finally decided to go to Mexico for VSG

Hello everyone!  I'm excited yet nervous about a decision I made.  After believing my insurance would pay for WLS and then being denied, then going through the sadness of what the hell else is needed to prove I need this surgery I've decided to pay myself and go to Mexico and have my surgery with Dr. Aceves.

Im nervous because I don't think I'm going to have good support with my parents.  Which is crazy, because they've always supported me.  However, my mom is your standard worry wart. My best friend and her husband have been my greatest support team. Has anyone else had trouble with family supporting them?

Im having the VSG.  Is there anything special I should do before the surgery?  I've got a Pre-op and post op diet to follow but was wondering if anyone that has had the surgery could give me pointers on anything extra to make sure I do.

Thanks for any info.

Bridget ,

Congratulations on your decision . I am sure you do have a lot to prepare for .

I found this blog for you . I am not familiar with the VSG . But this web site and blog may be helpful to you . http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/

No matter what surgery you have there is always worry . The best thing to do is take it one day at a time . With most WLS .. you may want to begin putting into place an exercise program ... you can look at your diet and start preparing or trying out foods on that list .

Please let us know how things go .. and if you need anything else let me know .

Blessings and Hugs ,

Tink

I've been looking into vsg In Mexico for a while. Dr. Aceves is more than I can afford, but I have read a lot of great stats on him. I have no support either, would be going solo. Good luck
