Helping Others Find Their Way to a Life They Deserve!
Hi Tink and everyone else!
Just like many of you, I've been heavy all my life. I was a chunky child and a big teenager. When I was a Freshman, in High School (in 1972), I joined Weigh****chers (NO picnic, then) and got down to a size 14. That is the only time I remember being a "normal" size. It lasted about 3 months. Althogether I know I've lost more than 2 people on Weigh****chers, through the years. Unfortunately. I always found them AND a good deal more, besides...
A couple of months ago, I found myself saying to my husband (for the 2 thousandth time...), "Honey, I really wish I could (go out in the woods ) (fill in the blank) with you, but I jush CAN'T. This time, I thought, I am SO TIRED of saying that. I WANT to go out in the woods! My mother had been suggesting WLS to me for several years; but I'd always put it off. Now, I began looking into it, seriously. What I discovered was that I knew DOZENS of people who either had had the surgery or were just one "degree" away from someone wh had had it. Of those people, I found at least 95% said they'd do it again, if they needed it.
So, here I am. When i went to the introductory meeting, I found I had 4 out of 5 of their listed "co-morbidities." I ahd already done a lot of my homework (weightloss history, etc), so we got down to the approval stage fairly quickly. I was approved in 3 business days! Wow. That was a surprise. I had expected to have surgery between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I'll have it, next Monday. I am excited and have just a little bit of trepidation....
That's probably enough for me, for now. Once I get started, you'll never shut me up!
Thanks to you all for preparing the way!

Donna , I am so proud that you are taking the steps to a healthier you . I know for me I had to be scared into this . For years I never really seen myself as Fat ... but the day I was diagnosed with diabetes and my cholestoral was through the roof .. all I could imajine was I was going to die just like my father .. massive heart attack . I just had my second grandson when I decided to have surgery ..
And here I am 8 years later and I have no regrets .. No bounce back weight .. and I would do this again in a heart beat .
If you need any advice as to what to take to hospital , little things you can do once you get home .. pleae email me and I will be more than happy to share .
Again . I am so happy for you .. you do have a long road , I will not sugar coat it .. but when you reach your goal .. you will say .. IT WAS ALL WORTH IT .. .
Love and blessings to you ,
Tink
