LifeStarts WLS
Two weeks out.
Just starting mushy food now. Did fine until I attempted white fish. It was painful for a few minutes so I guess I'm not ready for that. Didn't throw up though so that's good. Haven't felt nauseous once since surgery. Everything fine. No complications but still a bit sore. It's manageable though.
My only complaint was the day after surgery, the nurse took away all the pain meds and even though she said she would come back with lortab, she forgot. She finally showed up mid afternoon and I reminded her I was in pain (massive migraine as well) She put something totally useless in my iv. I didn't get real relief until 3am on my second night there when the night nurse brought me the lortab. I slept sitting up to ease the pressure on my new pouch and I high tailed it out of there as fast as I could the next day.

Congrats on your surgery... Boy do I remember the days of Mushy foods . It is all trial and error. I will never forget when I got the go ahead to eat mushy ... I tried tuna fish ... all I did was a little tuna and mayo ... OMG ... I spent the rest of the day in the toilet ... I don't think I chewed enough... so I went back to what I was taught to chew atleast 30 times .... I did find that using Papaya Enzymes helped me after a meal. You might want to try those , you can get them at any pharmacy .
How in the world did she forget your pain meds ... I see who your doctor was ... where you at Fairfax or Fair Oaks ? I hope I got the right doctor .... I was supposed to see him for my hernia mesh repair but I am electing to go to UVA .
And yes .. sitting up after WLS does help that is why most surgeons ask you if you have a recliner ,, as laying down is so hard ...
I am glad you are here .. if you need anything please let me know ..
Best to you on your journey and please keep us posted .
Hugs,
Tink

I'm doing good. Still interested in attending a local support group if you get one organized. I was lucky with the fish. It hurt for a bit, but then it passed. I've actually got the papaya enzymes on hand. I'm trying ground beef tonight. I think that will go ok, but we'll see.
I think I was at Fair Oaks. It's the one called Innova and it's off 7100. (Fairfax Cty Pkwy) I really wasn't too happy with her, but I got over it when I felt better. I felt fine the morning after surgery because of the morphine. But when she took it away and left me with nothing, I really felt awful. The migraine was probably the worst of it. It took 4-5 days to start to feel better, but I'm doing pretty good now. I can even lie on my left side (if I'm careful) in the bed.
I'm quite happy overall so far with surgery. It is early days, but I have a good feeling about it. I think Dr. M's office gives very good after care advice and I'm following the plan. Protein drinks don't bother me and I drink ok, get in my vits etc.
I'm not sure what a hernia mesh repair is, but I'm sorry you have to have it. Is it WLS related? I know hernia's can be an issue after sugery.
Hugs back to you,
Aileen
